+Bean Blossom Gang Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I am sure that one of these was BeanBlossom. Can someone help me remember. Deermark Geez....I TOLD you guys that Bigfoot really does live in Brown County, but nobody believed me. See we REALLY are friends. He is not part of my imagination. ....... And you guys think I'm INSANE! Quote
+Deermark Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Well TrailMix 5 sure didn't go as planned. After camping Friday night in a constant thunderstorm and then the threat of more severe storms during the day on Saturday I did the adult thing and cancelled the hike. Still ended up with 17 people showing up at the trailhead. I managed to divert Doobies, LosXiles and Doug Smiley to my house before they got too far south. We did stand around and talk at the trailhead for awhile. Some of us ended up at my house eating veggie soup and talking trash. That was fun. TrailMix 6 is going to be the same location as TrailMix 5. It would be a shame to waste all those caches that Dr Who & K-9 & I placed. Looks like it will be the weekend before Thanksgiving. Of course that is tentative right now. See you on the trail. Deermark Quote
+jadeskyline Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 What a soggy bunch! Will start to beg for that weekend off so we can try it again. I see Indotguy has tested and approved the caches that were placed, it will be a test of willpower not to find these before Mix6. can't wait! Quote
+Indotguy Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Hi, I'm Indotguy and I'm a Cacheaholic. I tried really hard to stay away from Celina Lake, honest I did. But, in the end, the thought of all those new caches hidden along that trail was simply more than I could bare. I rationalized that someone else was bound to find them before the next TrailMix anyway so why not ME? Well as it turned out another cacher had indeed found some of them before I did so in that respect I felt vindicated. This is a great trail and excellent spot for hiking and caching. I may even try to get up there and hide a few new caches before the next TrailMix. Quote
+jadeskyline Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 It wil be all I can do not to find those caches before mix6. I thought about hiding a few out that way also. Might just do that in the next few weeks. I want to hide more at the Birdseye Trails also. I guess I better get some containers and trade items!!!!!! Quote
+Deermark Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Check out TeamD&D's Microcacher at her first birthday event. She had a ball and I found caches. Oh yeah. Deermark Quote
+Neos 1 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Hey everyone, Friday is opening day for WCNut's Octoberfest at Windy Rock. I have been assured by Mr. Nut himself that this year is a guaranteed good time. For a more wordy post on this subject, please go here: Windy Rock Quote
+daggy Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Hello, from bright, beautiful and warm San Diego. This is the last day of my Facility Manager's conference. I've attended some great sessions and found lots of good info at the expo. Oh, I did get one cache at lunch. Mark is having a great time too. He hiked the last two day. Yesterday when I called him, he had just come off a trail that took him 5 hours to hike. Today he is with some of my fellow Facility Manager's who elected to skips today's conference and go winery hopping. No, GeodeHunters, I don't think he will be bringing back any ice wine this time. Have a great time at Windy Rock. Sorry we will be missing one of our favorite events. Vacation officially starts tomorrow for me. Hopefully, I will add a few more California caches to my total Quote
Neos2 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Awww dang, Daggy, I will sure miss you guys at Octoberfest at Windy Rock. I do hope you have a great time out there, though. Bring us all a treat back, 'cause we're being good kids here! Quote
+Deermark Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 This is where I was at while Daggy was in her conference. Same as always she is off having fun while I slave away caching in awesome locations. It is tough but I try to do my part. Deermark Quote
+dougsmiley Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Poor, poor deermark. Great picture! Quote

Deermark Hey Mark, I don't know if anybody told you or not but to those southern California mountain lions, geocachers taste like chicken and I've seen bobcats out there the size of German Sheperds. Nice kitty kitty. BTW, that looks like one of your "little" hills. Edited October 13, 2006 by Neos 1 Quote

+Deermark Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 OK. We are going to try again. The next TrailMix is the same as the last TrailMix. Celina Lake on November 11. This time there will be no rain & no tornado warnings. Daggy and I will be camping again if anyone wants to join us for some cold weather camping. The cache page is waiting approval and should be up quickly. Deermark Quote
+jadeskyline Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Thanks for the update! I've already secured the 11th as a day off! Will be there unless something really crazy happens! Now lets all hope for a nice day! See you there! jade Quote
+Deermark Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I caught this view from our hotel room in San Diego. Best photo of the entire trip and I took it in my underwear. . Like you needed to know that. Anybody out there. Deermark Quote

+Prairiepartners Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Things might be promising that I could even make it to this trailmix!! Quote
+Deermark Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!. The forcast for the TrailMix is 60% chance of rain. Come on!!! But that is also 40% chance of no rain. As long as there are no Thunderstorms the show will go on. Deermark Quote
+dougsmiley Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Weather.com for English shows only a 10% chance. Quote
+Deermark Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Doug is right. The forecast has been revised. High 48 and (fingers crossed) no rain. T-storms Friday night will make the trails muddy. There is a few streams to cross that may be swollen but we can live with that. Is anyone camping Saturday night? Deermark Quote
Neos2 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Oh, too bad I can't go--cool weather, swollen creeks, muddy trials---all my favorite ingredients! Unfortunately, I will be helping my Key Club kids try to help our student council take care of Indiana Student Council Convention people from all over the state. Our school is the host this year and STuCo kids will be swarming into our small school this weekend. Just think, 1500 teen agers in one place all weekend. Quote

Neos2 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Those people look COLD. Man, that's a lot of layers! Quote

+japtkd Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Just a quick note that ECO is having its December meeting at Las Brasas in Mount Vernon this Saturday at 4:00 CST. The event page is GCZD2Q. Hope to see everyone there! Quote
+Deermark Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Doug Smiley hosted an excellent Trailmix up north near New Castle. I joined 20 other cachers for a cold hike around Westwood Lake. All the containers were ammo boxes which Doug placed by himself over the course of several days. I even brought some left over FEMA donuts. The next Indigo TrailMix will be at Monroe Reservoir in mid-January. Hard to believe it has almost been a year since the first one. Deermark Quote

+Deermark Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 TRAILMIX 7 - THE BIRTHDAY PARTY is now up and running. We are not meeting on the top of the above tower. I'll watch you climb it if you want and even take your picture but you won't catch me up there. Come join me for a 6-1/2 mile hike over beautiful terrain. We will start by descending to a creek and crossing said creek several times during the hike. Then we climb to the surrounding hills and enjoy a moderately level hike along some great areas. See you on Jan. 20th. Deermark Quote
+Deermark Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 WCNut & Tater hit the big 4000 at GCYWR2 yesterday in Cincinnat. It was a cold and windy day but Chuck & Nancy braved it all to hit their goal. Way to go kids. Deermark Quote

+Deermark Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 One week until TrailMix 7. The extended forecast looks dry but cold. Better cold than wet. For those of you that don't know if you want to come, why not give it a dry. I promise you will have a good time. See everyone next week. Deermark Quote
