+MarcB
Excellent idea Snaik! Make sure 'Joe Public' doesn't misuse it though. MarcB Quote Link to comment

Anyone in coming through Perth welcome to to use it will send co-ords settings on request. Great idea... I think I'll have to set ours up to be accessible for web-only from outdoors. My company headquarters currently allows all visitors to use web-only WiFi when they visit. It leaks quite nicely out into the car-park and across the street to the local high school. Oops. They've learnt how to avoid hackers pretty quickly. Cheers, Stu Quote Link to comment
+stu_and_sarah
Sorry i'm a bit of a thicko sometimes. What exactly is it that you have set up?? A wireless access point. That means that if you've got a WiFi device (wireless networked laptop/organiser), then you can pull up outside Snaik's house and surf the web for free, using a radio connection to his stuff which is connected to the internet. +Kouros
That's not a bad idea at all... mind if I nick it when I set up my WiFi connection at home? It would be intriguing to see how far a home WiFi setup spreads though, as we too will have a school nearby when we move. Quote Link to comment

Thanks for clearing that up for me Stu & Sarah. I'm not as much a thicko now as I was before. Quote Link to comment
+Lazyboy & Mitey Mite
I wish I had a new enough laptop that I could use that technology. It's pretty cool. Quote Link to comment
+DomHeknows
They've learnt how to avoid hackers pretty quickly. Cheers, Stu lol - how bad were they hit? I managed to use an open access point in our office building the other day to update my cache page whilst the rest of the office network was down due to a planned power cut in the computer room. Worked pretty well. Quote Link to comment
+yorkstan
I wish I had a new enough laptop that I could use that technology. It's pretty cool. I use a PCMCIA card to access WiFi from my laptop. £20 or so on e-bay. Yorkstan Quote Link to comment
Rangers of Ithilien
We've just come back from florida and wi-fi was available in so many different places, shopping malls, theme parks and bookshop cafes spring to mind! It made me wish I had taken my laptop along with me, rather than paying the $10 plus it cost for 'high-speed' (ha-ha) access via the tv in my room! Tiffany Quote Link to comment
