+briansnat
Rutts Hut The Hot Grill, and Hot Dog Johnny's but you southerners wouldn't know anything about these places. You think your BBQ huts are all that. Go ahead and eat your healthy barbecue, while I knock down 250 grams of fat, 5,300 calories and 3,000+ milligrams of sodium in one sitting. Mmmmmmmm! LOL... yeah buddy, that's much healthier! The closest thing to southern BBQ you guys have up there (that I found while visiting) is "Virgil's BBQ" (152 W. 44th St., btw Broadway & 6th Ave). Funny thing about it was, BBQ (used as a noun, not the northern verb meaning) places down here are as frequent as pizza places up there. Guess they thought they were taking me someplace "unique!" You haven't been to my house. Sloooow cooked pork shoulder and ribs and my own sauce on the side. I get up at 6 am to start them, so they'll be ready by dinner time. Labor intensive, but worth it. What's a Polish boy from NJ know about barbecue you ask? Enough. Quote Link to comment
+Bloencustoms
It's all in the dry rub. You have to remove the membrane from the back of the ribs, then massage the seasoning in. After 4 or 5 hours in the smoker, they're ready for a foil wrapped, Stubbs soaked 1/2 hour in the oven. So good you'll talk about 'em for months. (Untill the next time, of course.) Therein lies the rub. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
My rub: 4 tpsp brown sugar 2 tbsp kosher salt 1 tbsp garlic powder 1 tbsp onion powder 1 tbsp chili powder 1 tbsp cayenne pepper 1 tbsp hot paprika 1 tbsp oregano 1 tbsp cumin 1 tbsp dry mustard 1 tbsp rubbed sage Quote Link to comment

It's been a year or two since I have been 'up north' but I have friends in Edison, NJ.... so what time is dinner served Brian? Quote Link to comment
+Bubba Cache
I have to agree with Briansnat, all in the rub. My father-in-law has had a recipe for 5 generations now, and since he has no sons and I married his daughter, I got the recipe. Rub it in, let it set over night. WOW. Any of you besides Jeff and Joefrog heard of "Dreamland Ribs"? Quote Link to comment
KimsFriend
Dreamland is OK for Bear Bryant but I want more than meat with a bone and white bread. I have yet to try the new resturants they have opened. My favorite resturant is in Orange Beach called Outriggers. BBQ is good but after 40 yrs of trying it all over the country I have lost some of my enthusiam. I recently had breakfast at the Burning Bush in Gatlinburg and would highly reccommend them. Aksor+Raskol
I don't have the coords, but if you're ever in Cumming, GA try Johnnie B's Chicago Eatery. I lived in Chi-town for a few years and developed an addiction to Italian Beef. Try Johnnie's. Get it "dipped" with hot gairdanera, giardenro, giaardinareo, the hot Italian stuff. They also have Chicago hot dogs, Italian sausage, Polish sausage, burgers, etc and pizza. Don't forget the Rolaids. Quote Link to comment
+JBzHOW
I got yer coords right here. N33 48.314 / W084 22.029 Fatt Matts Rib Shack, Atlanta, GA. If the winds are blowing just right I can smell the smoke from my front porch! -JB Quote Link to comment
South_Cache
Hello, I have been gathering my own coordinates for good places to eat in Louisiana. I have them posted on my website. If you have a favorite restuarant and you would be willing to give more info, such as what to wear, how much to spend, what is the best dish to order. I would be happy to add your favorite place to my favorite places. I also include historical spots and other places where caches aren't allowed or are too commercial for GS. Thanks Gary South Cache Website Quote Link to comment
+Rebel
Just about 30 miles East of Birmingham, in Pell City, is Cafe Avanti. An Italian cuisine restaurant which is surprisingly sophisticated for it's locale. Expect to drop about $25 per person. I recommend the Veal Parmiagana. 33 35.434 86 14.806 Quote Link to comment
Aksor+Raskol
Hey Da Rebel! We're talking post-geocaching, smelly, dripping with sweat, caked with mud roadside eateries here. Sounds to me you're describing the place you're taking your long-lost ex-girlfriend this weekend! Ha! Quote Link to comment
+Rebel
AR! How'd you know? Actually, she's not an ex, just one I haven't heard from for a while. I have 5 at last count. Good point about the smelly, dirty, mud splattered. Just go next door to Charlie's Seafood. Not bad at all. Quote Link to comment
chemfed
Sonic, with out a doubt. Super Sonic made #1 with a Sonic size tots, Mmmmmm! Quote Link to comment

+Gaddiel
If you're ever near Clarksville, Arkansas (right on I-40), you gotta check out a place called Helen's Kitchen. We found it through this cache which has since been archived. (The cache coordinates will lead you right to it.) If you go, GET THE MUFFELATTE!!!! +Mustard Devil
I like to eat my weekend breakfast BEFORE I go caching at Lubys Cafeteria. They have an All You Can Eat buffet on Sat and Sun morn. Eat all that and I just have to go caching to try and lose a few calories Quote Link to comment
+ScubaDewd
Duck's Hotdog stand in Black Mountain, NC is one of my favs! They have an awesome Pretzel Dog. It's a footlong with a bun made from soft pretzel dough. ScubaDewd Quote Link to comment
Aksor+Raskol
Lawrenceville, GA "The Corner Stop Cafe" is right on the square downtown. To die for fried chicken, chicken fried steak, meat loaf, collards, field peas, okra, smashed taters, fried green maters... and the biggest sweet tea you ever seen. The only drawback is they're only open for lunch on weekdays, and there's a line after 11:30. Quote Link to comment
