+Waterboss
Has anyone had trouble with this beta update? I just uploaded it and have not yet had a problem but thought I'd check with everyone. I'd like to know. Waterboss Quote Link to comment
+Solar Max
We have 2 Legends in the house, and I'm not quite sure which beta you're referring to. The version number is 3.01 right? If so, I will try it on one of them tonight and let you know. Quote Link to comment

+coast2coast2coast
I just updated to 3.0 and lost al my waypoints...Good thing I saved them on Ozi *We are teaching our Zoe dog to sniff out Tupperware...* Quote Link to comment
+fishin'fool
On the garmin website it has a listing for the eTrex legend, and the eTrex legend beta. Are these different GPSr units or different updates for the legend? Quote Link to comment
+The Cheeseheads
Where's the extra memory coming from to save 1000 waypoints when the original number was 500? - - - - - Wisconsin Geocaching Association Quote Link to comment
+TV-dude
I loaded it Saturday, haven't been out much with it yet, but so far, no problems..Didn't have any waypoints in the old version. I hear it will wipe out the old waypoints when you load it. Quote Link to comment
Couch_Potato
I've been using it for a couple of days with no problems. In fact it seems to acquire a position lock faster when first turned on than the previous version. I'm not sure where the extra memory comes from for the expanded track log, maybe the data is being compressed before it's stored. I'm not lost! I just don't know where I am. Quote Link to comment
+Egnix
Has anyone used beta Etex firmware before? I'm wondering if I can trust it for an uncoming "big cache day". I'd hate to have a problem with it and have it end my caching. Quote Link to comment
targetdrone
I used the 2.43 Beta for quite a while and never had any problems. I downloaded the new one last night, but haven't updated my Legend yet. "It's free advice and worth every cent." Quote Link to comment
+Waterboss
Well so far I too have not had any problems with my etrex ledgend. But still am interested in your input. Waterboss Quote Link to comment
+CdirtO
I was just on the Garmin site and I cannot find a link to the version 3.01 beta upgrade. Can anyone post a link to the download. I have put all the other upgrades in my legend and have had no problems. Of course, the waypoints do go away, but I don't consider that a problem as I have them all on floppy and in my laptop, too. Just a matter of seconds to replace! Thanks in advance! Ya'll never mind! I just located it! Thanks again, anyway! I can go anywhere!! ... (if my wife lets me) Quote Link to comment

+Solar Max
Ok, so far no problems here either. I DO like the extra waypoints and routes. I had saved all waypoinst in Ozi and Mapsource before upgrading. As far as the extra waypoints, would I be correct in presuming that a small amount of the 8MB Ram would be used for the extra data? I can't see it being stored on the firmware side. I think we're sacrificing a very small amount of Mapsource memory. It's worth it. Quote Link to comment
+Solar Max
I think I may have found a glitch. After loading about 4MB of MapSource data, my Legend now says it has 4% of memory used. I find that difficult to believe, but if it's true, it would be a nice bonus. I also note that the battery indicator is not as accurate as before. I finished caching today with it reading one quarter, and as I type this, it is saying full. Interesting, how that can happen without charging the batteries. (Nimh) Quote Link to comment
+Team Mixster
Just checked and the latest version is listed at 3.10, no beta. ?? Guess I'll have to put it to use once the family is over their colds. (Local schools are closing - no caching for us) Quote Link to comment
