  1. I have recently moved and I can't seem to get new caches in my area. I have changed my home location.
  2. In the area where I live there are a couple of caches that are no longer there. Several people have logged dnf's and cache needs maintanance. These are in great spots and would really like to have them replaced or archived and I would hide one there. I have personally emailed the owner and still nothing. My question is, how do I go about getting this fixed?
  3. I use mine(map60cx) for hunting, fishin, metal detecting and work. I am in the construction buisness so I can walk a job site and do an area calculation to figure out how much material I have to excavate out or how much material I will have to haul in.
  4. I have worked on alot of commercial fishing vessels, and even with the advanced electronics onboard such as gps, loran, radar, and auto-navigation devices costing tens of thousands of dollars they all had one thing in common. A good ol' magnectic compass on the dash. We put our lives in the hands of these devices day in and day out , but also new them good enough that when something didn't seem right with them we always had the ol' standby on the dash!
  5. when all else fails I get out my hardhat and orange vest and just go do my thing. Most people think I am a city employee with some sort of gadget. Add a set of blueprints rolled up under my arm and magically I am a surveyor. When stealth doesn't work, put on the bright orange. sometimes being obvious gets you less attention.
  6. This is kind of a spin=off of this but what about the people that need directions like "DO NOT TOUCH, FLAME IS HOT AND MAY BURN" LOL
  7. I got a leatherman and a Geocoin and pin of the month subscription, sweet! Now I have to decide to keep em each month or set em free! Merry Christmas everybody
  8. I was out looking for a cache in an old local cemetary and had pulled over to the side of the road. I looked in my rear view and a state police truck was right behind me. We both got out and I said I would move off the road so he could get by.He said he was trying to find an address. I told him what I was doing and showed him my gpsr and told him if he needed help finding the address my gpsr and I would be glad to assist. He smiled and said he might take me up on my offer if he didn't find it soon.
  9. I went ahead and braved it and used the webupdater.I backed up all my waypoints with easyGPS but didn't need to.All my waypoints and mapsource maps are still there. The webupdater is the way to go.Easy and fast.
  10. I have a 60 cs with mapsource maps on it and want to update the software from the garmin site. Will I lose the mapsource info or can I save it somehow?
  11. Yes that is exactly what I am looking for
  12. My brother just bought a garmin gps 60 and I am trying to find him a mapsource POI since that is the only mapsource product he can download.
  13. I am trying to update my gpsr from 3.40 to the latest version. I downloaded it to my pc and saved it, but when I hook up my gpsr to my pc and try to run it it says it not a win 32 file and would not work.
  14. I recently bought a used 60cs and want to know if any mapsource maps have been downloaded. At the bottom under the map scale it says mapsource but I don't know if this is just the way they come or not.
  15. Go to the trip computer screen and play around with customizing it to your needs. All screens can be customized, but this screen has the most options. All you have to do is use the click stick to highlight a certain area of the screen and press in on the click stick. Now a whole list of options will appear.Highlight the option you want and push in on the click stick, that option will now appear in that space.I think the two options you are looking for are Location(selected)which would be the waypoint you selected to find, and Location(lat-lon)which is your current location. You can also get the pointer on this screen which is very useful.Go outside, turn it on and play with options while looking for a waypoint. There are almost endless possibilities.Have fun. fishin'fool was here!

  20. I live very near the mouth of the klamath river in northern ca.Unfortinatly we are the recipient of all the trash that enters the whole length of the river.Last year the local indian tribe called the Yuroks, organized a river clean-up day.It was a great success,we picked up tons of trash. We literly picked up tons,I think around 5 or 6 thousand pounds. They gave everybody a tee-shirt with all the local buisneses that sponsored on the back with a cool logo on the front. They had door prizes and a free salmon barbeque.Several of us have jet-boats and the tribe had two of theirs to shuttle the people around the mouth and to pick up the bags of garbage along the riverbank that everybody picked up.I can't wait for it again this year.I met a lot of really nice people and had a blast picking up garbage,go figure! fishin'fool was here!

  23. you could put the first goal and instructions on one side of the paper twice with a space between them. Then you could put the second goal on the back twice with a space between. Now fold in half so the first set of goals are on the outside, and laminate. Now with the first set of goals there should be instructions to the person that finishes the first set of goals is to cut open the laminated card, refold the card so the second set of goals are on the outside and relaminate. It might be to complicated, but just an idea fishin'fool was here!

  25. If your GPSr does turn out to be a "battery hog" there are things you can do to make your batteries last a little longer.Turning of waas is one and your unit should have an option to put it on battery saver mode. This mode "updates" less frequently than normal but should be fine to get you close to the cache area, then put in normal mode. fishin'fool was here!
