  1. I've never bought topo maps before but want to get the best there is. I'm looking for maps that not only show elevation changes but also show hiking trails in my area. I'm tired of starting on a trail and not really knowing where it goes or how long it is without research. Can anyone give some input? Waterboss
  2. At one time I put several American flag printed mini soccer balls in my rest stop #1 cache, and was wondering how many cachers still have them. Or maybe have found one and moved it along. Let me know if one has passed through your hands, and where you picked it up from. Just a fun little thought of where they all ended up. I did hear of one mentioned from the Rest Stop series topic. But if you found, seen, or heard of these balls please post where and when.. THANKS
  3. Cool coin! How do you get them made? Are they sold in the grouds peak store?
  4. Has anyone found my rest stop #1 cache? I think you'll love it! It's a full 5 gallen bucket hidden on flat land and has not been muggled since I put it there. If you have found it, let me know what you think?
  5. Has anyone found caches at rest stops? And how do they rate? What dou you think of these sometimes very easy caches.
  6. My name is Waterboss, I'm from Yakima, Wa. Ive been in this sport for almost 2 years and have casually racked up about 89 caches I think. I've enjoyed this game very much. Waterboss (Dave)
  7. I started geocaching almost a year and a half ago. I do it for the adventure and the thrill of finding somthing someone intentally left behind. I am a Married male with two children and a busy job, but I still find time once or twice a month to get out for a few hours and find/hide caches. There is little knowlage about this sport and that is what keeps it interesting to me knowing that people have little to no knowlage what the hell I'm doing out in a field with a GPS walking in circles. I hope this helps you somewhat. As to my location: the neat thing about internet I could be your next door neighbor and you'll never know, I'm not telling my location. But you can look up my profile on the site it has a pic of me of october last year gocaching on some local foot hills. WATERBOSS
  8. I had that same problem with my GPS not allowing me to input coordinates, it would not let me enter a number second to last of the N. coordinates.???????? You got me too I still don't know why. Waterboss
  9. Yes I suppose so. I take care of a few caches in my area for people who live far away. All I do is send an e-mail to them if there is any changes like moving it such as coordinates and notes on the cache. One you can look at is Crash n Burn GC4782. But it is possible as long as you both have an agreement. I think If I did not take care of some of these caches they might not be there for others. Waterboss
  10. I have not updated my venture yet but what do you know?....Before I do... Waterboss
  11. Has anyone noticed that the update on Garmin's web site for thr Etrex Ledgend has no changes? As for my other GPS the Etrex Venture it has changes. So is it nessary to even update the Ledgend? Waterboss
  12. Yes I do log all my DNF's and end up visiting the same site twice in a day to only find it the second try after looking at the page. Waterboss
  13. Can you copy the software before you send it back?
  14. Has anyone ever been successful by mass downloading points in GPS and then blindly hunting for them not knowing if it is a multi/micro,, or even what diffulity it is? I've done this in my area and even in other area's that I'm not familuar with and it's much harder. Even for those easy caches because you don't get the hint or even what the cache name is until you get back home to log them. I'd like to hear your storys if you've done it or thought of it. Waterboss
  15. I'll give you 40.00 for it..... E-mail me if interested Waterboss
  16. Well so far I too have not had any problems with my etrex ledgend. But still am interested in your input. Waterboss
  17. Be sure your WAAS is enabled in your setup. Waterboss
  18. Has anyone had trouble with this beta update? I just uploaded it and have not yet had a problem but thought I'd check with everyone. I'd like to know. Waterboss
  19. We did the same thing on our vacation from Yakima Wa, to sacremento CA. And all I did was look on a map and picked out citys along the way and looked up the zip code on UPS.com or something, Then downloaded them all about 15-20 mile range from each city. Then went back through my GPS and edit it down to what I needed. Takes about an hour or two but it's the only way I found. Contact me if you have any problems or questions. Waterboss
  20. I seemed to fixed the problem. I did aquire a disk of photo shop and did figure out how to resize my photo's and save it. Just an added step involved when I use my camera rather than my camcorder for pics. Waterboss
  21. Software did come with the camera but played with it for a while but no luck on how to resize it. But I'll also try some of these great idea's.
  22. My digital camera will only take pics ate 1280x960 and site manager tells me it needs to be around 600 wide. Any idea's on how to decreace the pic size before I upload it to the site? Waterboss
  23. I have a legend and all you have to do is download to easy GPS and click on GPS and then download to gps. Thats all. To go get one jest click options (on the map page, the top left button) and pan map. Put that pan pointer on whatever cache you want, click it and click goto. Hope this helps. Waterboss
  24. Sorry that did not work eaither. But I e-mailed the geocahe site and hopefully they can tell me what to do. Waterboss
