Weird/Rare Cache Types Explained

Recommended Posts

Today I was looking through other geocachers profiles as one does when I came across a couple cache types I have never heard of; so if you could please explain these cache types to me. are there any not archived, and how would one go about logging one, how rare are they, are they any good, and what makes them different?

1. NGS benchmarks

2. GPS adventure exhibit

3. project APE caches

4. geocache HQ celebration

This might help.

I thought the Adventure Maze had either gone exclusively international or never returned after the pandemic. Is there somewhere that lists upcoming locations?

When Florida got Geowoodstock a decade ago there wasn't an Adventure Maze with it. I'm not aware of the Maze ever coming closer to me than Nashville.

What are NGS benchmarks though and how do I find them?

Benchmarking is still in the forums, under 'Geocaching types and additional GPS-based gameplay' and it'll give you information.                                Now that it's no longer a 'geocache', it's no longer listed on 'all nearby...' on cache pages.

But... you might find a few listed on the Waymarking site by clicking 'all nearby waymarks on Waymarking.com' on cache pages.

Like the (real, now gone too) Locationless caches, some folks have been placing Benchmarks on Waymarking.com .

We have a few Locationless caches on our profile, if you'd like to take a look...

Already come and gone in the middle of March.  Where is a calendar of future maze events posted?

I don't think there is a formal calendar or list for them. I found 5 for this year, all in Europe as the 6th in Texas has already passed. See https://coord.info/BMEAT6T

To find all maze opportunities .

Do not specify an initial location. Search world wide.

Add filters: name contains "maze"

cace type select all 4 of the event types

Looks your options are:

West Virginia

England

Netherlands

France

Czechia

New Zealand
