My first geocash

Recommended Posts

Hello, I want to hide my first geocash. Do I have to put the note "this box is part of a game" in the box myself or does the inspector do that. How do you get the note with the name of the casher on it and also the coordinates of the cache. Thanks for the answer

jJust for help, might be good to spell  correctly - geocache, cacher etc. You need an instrument that can identify the coordinates at  the cache site. An iPhone or dedicated GPS unit will work, I use the  MyGPSCoordinates app on my iPhone. I would recommend reading the Help Pages about Hiding a Cache first. Remember the coordinates are to be at the cache hiding spot.

YOU find the place for the cache, determine the coordinates and write up the description. You can enter in the description what you want, and you can place a note in the cache or write on the container that this container is an official geocache container and is to remain. I believe you can purchase such stickers in the store. Just remember, it can still walk off.

Once you determine where you want the cache placed you, go to hide cache and go through the process, and remember once you summit the cache for approval the cache is to be in place. once you submit the cache for approval the Reviewer may ask for some information, no one gorges to inspect the cache placement.

Yoiu need to be aware that your cache needs to be at least 528 feet from another cache. When you submit the cache for approval the reviewer will let you know if your cache

does nutmeat that requirement.

if you can find a local more experienced cacher to help you fine.

Your autocorrect needs some corrections.

Also many caches need permission from the property owner or manager.

It is best to find 100 or so geocaches before hiding your own.
Good cache owners place them where they can maintain them because issues will come up.

I hope you have many years of geocaching enjoyment.  I certainly have.

You should do a lot more research before thinking about hiding a geocache. If you are not even acquainted with the function of reviewers, then you should slow down a bit before you attempt to hide any caches of your own.

I can't see your profile, so I don't know what kind of caches you have found so far, or what sizes, or what condition they were in when you found them.  I can't see what kind of logs you have posted.

You need to know that there are different types of caches, different sizes, and different types of logs.  You also need to realize that you will need to maintain your hides.

Start by reading the Help Center articles.

https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=141&pgid=524

Types of geocaches

https://www.geocaching.com/about/cache_types.aspx

I would suggest that you make an effort to find different types of caches and perhaps attending an event or two to speak with experienced cachers in your area before embarking on cache ownership.

Everything on his profile seems to be visible to me.

Based on the other caches you found I could see that there are several events within say 20km of that find location coming up. Why not join and event, talk to people and learn more about placing your first cache there? The community is generally very friendly and helpful.

I can access the OP's "hides", but can't access his "finds".

Maybe because I'm not  a PM?

The OP isn't a PM either...   Maybe it's been changed now, 'cause I just looked at both.   :)

The only time I've seen that happen is with this silly "security" feature where you can now hide pretty-much everything from view.

Cheaters don't need to worry that you spotted them now...    :D
