  1. Follow up question: So what to do now if someone posts a DNF with completely inaccurate, misleading and potentially harmful (to potential future finders) information regarding the cache? Delete them?
  2. (I did a search and couldn't find a similar topic...) I tried to encrypt a log today but there is no longer an option for that. Is that feature no longer available?
  3. Thanks 99! I finally figured it out. It involved sliding my whole screen to the left to access it. thank you for all your help.
  4. I can sign out of the app, I'm trying to sign out of Geocaching.com in my browser. For instance, when I open my app (signed in the account i prefer), find a cache and scroll down to "open in browser", click that, Geocaching.com opens in a browser, to that cache BUT in an old account. So to be clearer... I'm having trouble signing out of Geocaching.com on my iPhone so I can log in to a different account. There are things I would like to do in the field that the app won't do, like look up archived caches for example (among other things, but that a grumble for another thread... :~). ) Thanks
  5. I am stumped I’ve tried everything I can think of. Somehow my phone logged me in to a years old account and for the life of me I can’t log out of it. Help!?
  6. I'm not sure what this means. Is there a way to set your account as private?
  7. Hoo-boy, Lordy yes. But the king of all my walking hides was Blue Suede Shoes. It was a migrating phenom. I think the most it migrated was 50 feet (I found it that time quite by accident). There was nothing special about it - just a standard cache in the woods... an ammo can actually. But it seemed every time I checked on it, it was in a different spot.
  8. If you need to scroll down to the first log on a cache page, is there an easy way to do it. I need to do this on a cache with thousands of entries and manual scrolling just ain't cutting it. I note that there is a little arrow that will jet you to the top of the page, is there a corresponding one that will jet you to the bottom?
  9. Sorry. Here's Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What3words
  10. Lately I've had 'cachers post notes on some of my caches saying, "I think this is a W3W (what 3 words) cache but the coordinates lead me to Timbuktu!". I don't own any W3W caches but I'm thinking I might like to. So... Questions: Would it be possible to hide a W3W cache without it being a puzzle? What are some creative ways to construct a W3W cache without just posting the three words? That just doesn't seem creative enough. Thanks for your input!
  11. We still use a Garmin to get coords when placing caches... and searching in the woods. When I'm forced to find coords with my phone, I'll go to my maps app, give it a couple of minutes to settle, then take a screen capture. I'll figure out the coordinates later when I get back home. I know, I know, but it works for me.
  12. FYI - Regarding the waterproof-ness of preforms, soda bottle caps usually have a much better built-in gasket than the lids that come with the preforms we get at Steve Spangler. We always switch them out. They are pretty bomb-proof. I've only ever lost one to damage - it was hit by a tractor mower. And even at that it was *almost* still usable.
  13. I've found 2, as of yet, unpublished caches. Both while searching hide spots. Found a couple of puzzle finals too.
  14. Do list them as Traditional or Mystery?
  15. Hypothetical - I'm wanting to put out a cache that requires logs to consist of or contain a 3 line poem. If I list the cache as a puzzle cache would that ALR be allowed? Follow up hypothetical (for a different cache), could I require a picture be posted to log (again, as long as I listed it as a puzzle cache)? Thanks.
  16. I do themed caches quite a bit. I think it's a fine idea and I don't think it violates GS guidelines. I've certainly seen much more blatant ones.
  17. Try here: http://www.geocaching.com/resources/default.aspx Or: http://support.Groundspeak.com/ These would be better resources that the blog. Good luck! Maybe I wasn't clear. I'm interested in submitting caches for consideration on the blog itself. I'm familiar with submitting caches to Groundspeak for publication. Though I do thank you for your time.
  18. Hope this is in the right forum... I visited the Blog link on the Geocaching.com page and really enjoyed it but there is no FAQ section. How do you submit caches for consideration for extreme caches, cache of the week and so on? Thanks
