+RedstonerM
Hello, I want to hide my first geocash. Do I have to put the note "this box is part of a game" in the box myself or does the inspector do that. How do you get the note with the name of the casher on it and also the coordinates of the cache. Thanks for the answer Quote Link to comment
Keystone
You should place your own note in your cache. There are no "inspectors." If you mean Community Volunteer Reviewers, we do not actually visit the cache location prior to publication. Learn more about instruction pages in this Help Center article, which links to the page where you can download the document in the desired language. 1 2 Quote Link to comment

An iPhone or dedicated GPS unit will work, I use the MyGPSCoordinates app on my iPhone. I would recommend reading the Help Pages about Hiding a Cache first. Remember the coordinates are to be at the cache hiding spot. YOU find the place for the cache, determine the coordinates and write up the description. You can enter in the description what you want, and you can place a note in the cache or write on the container that this container is an official geocache container and is to remain. I believe you can purchase such stickers in the store. Just remember, it can still walk off. Once you determine where you want the cache placed you, go to hide cache and go through the process, and remember once you summit the cache for approval the cache is to be in place. once you submit the cache for approval the Reviewer may ask for some information, no one gorges to inspect the cache placement. Yoiu need to be aware that your cache needs to be at least 528 feet from another cache. When you submit the cache for approval the reviewer will let you know if your cache does nutmeat that requirement. if you can find a local more experienced cacher to help you fine. Your autocorrect needs some corrections. 7 Quote Link to comment
+Smitherington
Also many caches need permission from the property owner or manager. It is best to find 100 or so geocaches before hiding your own. Good cache owners place them where they can maintain them because issues will come up. I hope you have many years of geocaching enjoyment. I certainly have. 1 2 Quote Link to comment

If you are not even acquainted with the function of reviewers, then you should slow down a bit before you attempt to hide any caches of your own. I can't see your profile, so I don't know what kind of caches you have found so far, or what sizes, or what condition they were in when you found them. I can't see what kind of logs you have posted. You need to know that there are different types of caches, different sizes, and different types of logs. You also need to realize that you will need to maintain your hides. Start by reading the Help Center articles. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=141&pgid=524 Types of geocaches https://www.geocaching.com/about/cache_types.aspx I would suggest that you make an effort to find different types of caches and perhaps attending an event or two to speak with experienced cachers in your area before embarking on cache ownership. --Pup Patrol Edited June 9 by Pup Patrol 2 5 Quote Link to comment

+terratin
Based on the other caches you found I could see that there are several events within say 20km of that find location coming up. Why not join and event, talk to people and learn more about placing your first cache there? The community is generally very friendly and helpful. 4 Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
I can access the OP's "hides", but can't access his "finds". Maybe because I'm not a PM? --Pup Patrol Quote Link to comment

The only time I've seen that happen is with this silly "security" feature where you can now hide pretty-much everything from view. Cheaters don't need to worry that you spotted them now... 1 Quote Link to comment
+RedstonerM
You don‘t have to give me advices anymore. I have now hid 5 Geocaches on my own and I‘m a Premium Member and yes my First Language isn‘t English, it‘s German. 2 Quote Link to comment
+Smitherington
Thanks for being a hider and giving other geocachers something to hunt for. I would love to hear how these first 5 caches hold up and the comments you receive. Your experience may be a help to another first time hider. Quote Link to comment

Yes, that's why they are no longer called Approvers (like at the beginning of geocaching), but Reviewers. Hans NB: It's cache, not cash. ;-) Quote Link to comment
