Until I switched to satellite image and realised it was just the map colours! Boo! Might still bring the boat though ENJ Quote Link to comment

+burtsbodgers
I know its still early but anyone know a suitable campsite or are there plans for another Mega Camping close to the Event? Would be nice to get somewhere for all the campers to book and meet up at. Quote Link to comment

Would be nice to get somewhere for all the campers to book and meet up at. There will be a Mega Camping event. We're still looking at venues for the camping at the moment and the camping event itself can't be published until February 2012 because of the listing guidelines, but as soon as we have a venue booked we will announce it on our website, Facebook and the national forums. +Simply Paul
I was told there was going to be a southen Mega in 2012 any news on that? Thanks Thanks for asking. Keep Sunday July 22nd 2012 free in your calendar. We're waiting to hear back from Groundspeak on a potentially very exciting development which may sway our choice of venue (due to number of expected visitors) but the meeting Deci links to was very productive. Our final choice of area has been shaved down from several to two; Oxford and Brighton. Both have pros and cons but both have a lot to offer the international as well as domestic visitor and we've a raft of plans for external events as well as various caching-based challenges (including a 26mile 385yd cache series, cycle series, swimming/boating series, icon challenge, D/T grid challenge and more) and Mega camping, dog-friendly event, CITO event etc. Because of the ambitious scale needed to attract the unique annual icon that we've proposed to Groundspeak planning is an extensive undertaking but a great group of cachers have come together to offer a very special Mega (or perhaps a 'Mega-Mega' - a better name TBC!): Drsolly; Europe’s leading geocache finder (17.4k+). Metal-Bijou; inspirational force & international Mega bagger. Simply Paul; the UK’s leading cache event organiser (33, with 4 more waiting to be listed) Dorsetgal and Geodog; Olympic torch bearer & Inclusive/HandiCaching champion. Alibags; a key face of the Bucks, Beds & Herts caching scene & event series. Purple_Pineapple; Ideas people with a passion for interesting events, including 5 10 Years! meets! A development website is already online and waiting to roll once there are more confirmed details and a big announcement or two are just around the corner. For the sake of the 2011 Wales Mega team, who have their big day in Swansea on Sunday 31st July 2011*, we've deliberately been keeping a low profile (plus July 2012 is still 19 months away!) but clearly people are interested in what we've got planned - or at least curious - so we won't be keeping you on tenterhooks for too much longer. *We've confirmed a stand there. Come along and meet the team, see the 'Gold, Silver and Bronze' supporters packs we'll be offering, and have a chat about what we hope will be the UK's first 2k+ attendee event (that's if Wales don't beat us to that goal, of course!) +Bambography
A Mega Event, in the Lake District?? PERFECT! Looking forward to it (assuming i'm not doing my bit as an Olympic 'Games Maker'). Fingers crossed I can do both! Quote Link to comment
