I would like to meld with your project but I'm not sure that I've received all the communications in their fullness. I have to release a geocoin to travel - right? To the Mr Gray cache in USA - right?

To save me going back through 17 pages of posts, what is the main objective of Mr Gray's Project? Is it simply to provide us earthlings with more geocoins travelling in the wilds of planet Earth? If the coin reaches its destination will I be entitled to a free probing, or a quick trip once around Saturn's rings, or something?

Not even a day into the wild and the coin has run into trouble.

 

Yesterday i went out and dropped my coin off in my cache. Upon arriving at GZ i found the cache sitting just outside the hole in the tree it should have been in. So i place my coin into the cache and cover the hole in the tree with some rotting logs. Last night a new cache near me was posted so i wanted to move my coin into that cache giving it a better chance to be found soon and start moving.

 

So after work today i went back out to my cache. Arriving at ground zero everything is exactly as i left it. But when i moved the logs the cache was nowhere to be seen. I kind of figured an animal had taken up refuge in the hole and pushed it out. I looked all over the place to see if i could find it and found another entrance into the base of the tree.

 

The best i can figure is the cache was taken further into the tree where i can't see it. I'm sure the cache and the coin are fine. I'll just have to wait for the tree to rot even further and fall over before i can find it again.

 

In the mean time i'll be putting together another coin to send out and hope for the best.

After work today i'll be picking up a telescoping mirror so i can see around the chunk of dead tree just inside the opening. Almost the whole center of this tree is hollowed out and its a good sized tree. So the cache could easily be back there. If it is then i'll devise a way of retrieving it.

My cache has been retrieved from inside the tree hollow. So my coin is waiting to continue its journey. If it doesn't move come December i'll take it with me down to GA and get it close to the Atlanta Airport and hope it finds it's way across the big pond.

Mine has travelled in the first year around 430km and is right now in a cache which is approximately 10km away from the cache where I placed it. With this speed it will never make it! But at least it is still travelling

Just a couple of days ago I read that my coin should be making the east-to-west Crossing of The Pond in the next couple of weeks. A long flight for a little flapping butterfly.

Thank you! I was quite shocked when I got the email saying it was placed in this cache. I couldn't believe my eyes!

 

Now I will send all my luck and best wishes to those still in the game.

It seems like an impossible task; like threading a needle hidden in a haystack, but I guess it really can be done!

 

I really have to thank the great geocachers of Germany, who took good care of my coin and got it to it's destination so quickly. In fact, all my coins located in Germany are still circulating...none have gone missing. German geocachers rock!

Found and decoded mission today. Phase five assignment accepted. Since I live so close, I'll start my coin's assignment at the Mr. Gray US with a goal to get to Mr. Gray EU. Hopefully I'll get it started before the week is out.

For those trying to get their coins to the Mr Gray US destination, I work less than 10 miles from that cache. I'll be at MOGA (GC2QM9C) at the end of this month, so if your coins are going to be near there you might see if the transporters can look me up to move them along. In general, I'll watch any headed this way and if I can pick them up, I'll move them to the final. My coin should go in Mr Gray US early next week to begin it's travel to Mr Gray EU. Good luck.

Hmmm...I haven't received any communication from Mister Gray about completing my mission. Should I be concerned? The coin is still in the Mr. Gray EU cache, but for how long? I''m worried that someone will move it out of the cache.
