Attaching stash notes to ammo lids

Any thoughts on what the best way is to attach a laminated stash note to an ammo can lid? I'm using a hot glue gun, but I seem to be using a lot of glue. Has to be able to survive a large temperature range. Thanks!

rare earth magnets work well. But then, somebody would probably take them.

Most adhesives do not like the expansion/contraction issue with metals. Hot glue is one of the worst for that application. Two-part epoxies don't care for it either, but are better than hot glue. Maybe gorilla glue (urethane[?]) would do it.

I use clear packing tape on mine. I don't laminate the stash note. The tape acts as lamination.

Yup - I've been doing that since 2002. Most of those old stash notes are still clear as the day I taped them onto the inside of the lid. Still secure as well.

Another, "me too", on clear packing tape; some laminated, most not. No real cold temps here, but it does freeze.

Same here. My weather conditions in North Alabama may be different than yours, but I've never had a problem.

I used 3M spray adhesive on mine, but they haven't been "in the wild" very long so I don't know how well it's going to hold.

It's crazy expensive, but I had it around anyway. I wouldn't buy it just for this.

I used to attach laminated stash notes using Goop glue. It worked quite well. I've since discovered that laminating was an unnecessary step. I now use plain paper and clear packing tape. It works so well that I've used it on all of my larger caches, including Lock n Locks. I've recovered several water damaged caches where the note, secured by clear packing tape was still in good shape.
