Vater_Araignee
After reading issues people have with PMOCs I decided to do a comparison using my HC. The conditions for each PQ besides PMOC and ATAU are Selected types:Traditional Cache, Multi-cache, Letterbox Hybrid, Unknown Cache, and Is Active. 001 rPMOC = 0 ATAU = 0 [*]005 r PMOC = 0 ATAU = 43 [*]010 r PMOC = 2 ATAU = 106 [*]020 r PMOC = 5 ATAU = 451 [*]021 r PMOC = 10 ATAY = MAX return [*]025 r PMOC = 16 [*]050 r PMOC = 84 [*]100 r PMOC = 179 [*]184 r PMOC = MAX return Just thought I would share and I'd like to see other results, not opinions just results. +Xaa
well, not sure what you want to see, and not the time to run all the things you do... but ok.. at 14mile radius (I think you are using miles? km would make more sense, but ok) ATAU: 488 MOC: 2 at 200mile: PMOC: 74 at 300mile: PMOC: 401 yeah, we're relatively lucky here Quote Link to comment
Vater_Araignee
(I think you are using miles? km would make more sense, but ok) Yes I'm using miles, and using metric only makes sense if your national measurement standard is metric. Ours is still imperial. Off to do a metric version. Quote Link to comment
Vater_Araignee
"ATAU"? Available To All Users. Man GC.com is running slow, my browser keeps timing out just trying to get to the PQ page. Quote Link to comment
JBnW
I did the count a different way, but the results should still fit. Using the "search from home coordinates" link, I found a total of 372 caches within 50.0 miles, 4 of those were PMOC. These were at 5, 6, 16, and 42 miles. Quote Link to comment
StarBrand
ummmmm - 18 out 480 within 100 miles. Quote Link to comment
Taoiseach
Yes I'm using miles, and using metric only makes sense if your national measurement standard is metric. Ours is still imperial. I don't care - I use Imperial I'm really quite proud of the fact that within 50 miles of Downtown Ottawa, there are all of two PMO caches, and literally thousands of ATAU caches Quote Link to comment

Taoiseach
Ok, I was curious how far I would have to go to max out a PQ of PMO caches I was at 245.7 Miles, before I got 501 PMO caches. Of those 501; 80 were in Ontario 95 were in Quebec (but the nearest one was almost 80 miles away) 259 were in New York 9 were in Vermont 37 were in New Hampshire 13 were in Massachusetts 8 were in Maine From Ottawa, a maxed out PQ of PMO caches, has caches in MAINE! +Vater_Araignee
same type of PQs used in OP. radii | 02-15-2009 | 04-25-2010 | miles | PMOC | ATAU | PMOC | ATAU | ----------------------------------- 001 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | ----------------------------------- 005 | 0 | 43 | 0 | 53 | ----------------------------------- 010 | 2 | 106 | 0 | 145 | ----------------------------------- 020 | 5 | 451 | 2 | MAX | ----------------------------------- 021 | 10 | MAX | 2 | | ----------------------------------- 025 | 16 | | 20 | | ----------------------------------- 050 | 84 | | 196 | | ----------------------------------- 100 | 179 | | 341 | | ----------------------------------- 146 | NA | NA | MAX | | ----------------------------------- 184 | MAX | | | | ----------------------------------- Now what has happened with the ATAU (Available To All Users) is exactly what I would expect to happen. What surprised me was what has happened with the PMOCs, the diameter got smaller wile the doughnut hole got bigger. Yes I know, that is assuming an even distribution which does not exist. But still... Quote Link to comment

Isonzo Karst
sorry, I wasn't really following the radii thing. I did a date-ranged query for MO caches in Florida. In total there are 914 MO caches, out of 24298. 3.75% 250 remain from 2000 -> April 25 '-07 359 from April 26 2007 - April 25 2009 and 305 in the last year. So here are date results for Michigan on PMOCS 01-01-1995 to 12-31-2009 = 485 01-01-2010 up = 91 576 out of 16585. 3.47% or one every 170 square miles. Quote Link to comment
Isonzo Karst
3.47% in Michigan and 3.75% in Florida. interesting that the percentages are so close. I wonder if that holds true broadly? not that I'm willing to futz with the PQ previews to find out... In another thread Kit Fox claimed that MOC survive better. That claim might be somewhat amenable to analysis. If the percentages of older MO caches are running higher than the overall percentages Yep, it would seem to be true. In Florida, surviving caches from Jan 1 2004 to Dec 31 2004 - 942 active caches. 44 of them or 4.67% are MO. A slightly higher percentage of MO surviving then the overall MO average. Again for '05, 1513 surviving caches, with 4.16 % of them (63) being MO. Not overwhelming better survival, but there. Quote Link to comment

roziecakes
I live in Junction City, Oregon (just outside of Eugene Oregon). We have a good sized amount of members who are prolific cache hiders and almost all their hides are Premium Member Only. Even with all of them... this is the results. That's still over 3000 caches that one could find and not be a premium member. I'd say that's pretty darn snazzy. 4290 caches within 50 mile radius of Junction City, OR 365 caches within 50 mile radius of Junction City, OR PM only. Quote Link to comment

Vater_Araignee
according to PQing using you active cache as a center point. I also set the border so that no cache outside of Ireland would show up, this way I could use a ridiculous number to find a maximum cache return. radii km| PMOC | ATAU | ----------------------- 1 | 0 | 1 your cache ----------------------- 15 | 0 | 4 | ----------------------- 20 | 0 | 11 | ----------------------- 30 | 2 | 56 | ----------------------- 50 | 3 | 121 | ----------------------- 75 | 3 | 230 | ----------------------- 100 | 6 | 425 | ----------------------- 150 | 9 | 716 | ----------------------- 198 | 30 |1k | ----------------------- 2000 | 529 | | ----------------------- Edited May 24, 2011 by Vater_Araignee Quote Link to comment
