The things you find while caching...

Yesterday, I was caching and right at the coordinates for By Golden Pond was this:

 

 

It's not especially clear, but it's a poinsettia, still in it's wrapping from the shop, complete with price ticket. Why the heck would anyone leave it there???

Oh the humiliation of getting the BIG E on Christmas Day!...especially having spent a fiver on the love of my life!

maybe it was just growing wild - i assume all poinsettias (spelling?!) grow like that in the wild, as thats the only form you ever see them in...

 

Or maybe the previous cachers left it? Took keyring, left poinsettia....

We guess because it is a place of rememberance for a loved one.

The tale goes that the child was inspired by an angel to gather weeds from the roadside and place them in front of the church altar. Crimson "blossoms" supposedly sprouted from the weeds and became beautiful poinsettias. From the 17th century, Franciscan monks in Mexico included the plants in their Christmas celebrations"

In any case it's a lot better than the contents of most plastic bags I see hanging up in trees... what's that about then?

The picture looks to be the exact spot we remember that cache being in.

 

Interesting idea: Took cache, left Poinsettia . Hope it does not catch on, nice though Poinsettia's are.

One of the most interesting finds me n Badger happened upon was: Half (i.e. one cup and strap) of a huge Bra, along with an ashtray, and a broken dog's bowl. This was at a car park in the middle of nowhere on the way to a cache in the Alchemy series I think. If anyone can come up with the connection between them, I'd be really interested to know :-)

the worst thing I've found was at a cache in Glasgow. Discarded needles.....

Now the tone's gone down a bit, how about fingernail clippings and pubes - in the same cache. I am not kidding: the "donor", not a regular cacher thank goodness, had logged his/her deposit as such.

Eeeew.
