+dumbunusedid
During Katrina, my family was given MRE's. When power came back on, there were extras. I do not want to sell them because that would be wrong for me to make a profit from them but they are getting closer to their "best use" date so I do not want them to go to waste. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do with these? I am in Charlotte, NC. Edited November 13, 2007 by dumbunusedid Quote Link to comment
+ZSandmann
Maybe the foodbank would accept them? Just don't place them in a cache, still food, although not the best in the world. Quote Link to comment
+ScoutingWV
Put a note on the bulletin board at a local outdoor sports type store, call up a local scout troop and see if they're planning any hiking or camping trips, local food bank, shelters ... Too bad it's past halloween. Now THOSE would have made your house a popular place for the kids to stop! Quote Link to comment
+belair56
Years ago a food bank was given these, the instructions were "throw away everything but the entree" check with a boy scout troop, or sell them and donate the money to a local food bank. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
OR, you could mail 'em to Cerberus1, who LOVES the things ! Would gladly pay for shipping. We'd eat them on our next extended hikes faster then you could say, "What? you guys brought powerbars?" If you go on any hike longer than six hours, those things are heaven-in-a-bag. Portable and light. Sure beat some of the junk they call "camp food" these days (unless you LIKE cayenne in everything ) Quote Link to comment
+Cpt.Blackbeard
I actually like MRE's as well, they're great when you don't feel like cooking or don't want to carry much with you. Quote Link to comment

jlgale
After all the talk of MREs, i could use a Chicken and noodle MRE or a menu 12A. After eating them for the past 3 years in the service i am still not tires of them, exept for the Country Captain Chicken and Meatloaf. Quote Link to comment
+DallasMcDanger
mmm chicken and noodle. I remember beef stew being very good with those hard noodles (forgot the name). Any suggestions on where to buy military MREs? Been looking at MREdepot, but open to suggestions. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
Usually get them on e-bay. Have to really read what you're getting though. May just have a lot # and you could be grabbing stuff you can't stand/ don't want. A LOT seem to be "borrowed" military. majorsurplus.com sometimes have sales. Quote Link to comment

Dinoprophet
If the food bank won't take them, donate them to the auction or prize table at the next geocaching event They are great for hiking, but I find them bulky. Next time, I'm going to break them into their component parts. Fun site: mreinfo.com Edited July 30, 2009 by Dinoprophet Quote Link to comment
