+Saman
New Czech geocoin 2007 is now available to foreign geocachers too. You can order it at Geocachingshop.eu. The coin is based on the old Prague groschen, you can read more about its history here. I hope you will enjoy it as we do here Quote Link to comment

+-Eleanor-
I agree, I really like the coin, but it's a bit too expensive for me Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
I ordered 4 and that works out to $15.90 each shipped. That's insane. The international sellers really need to come down on their pricing to the US. Quote Link to comment

+Steinwälzer
I could order these in a German shop. These are among the cheaper coins out there with 6,99 EUR each. But thats 9,75 $ without shipping. Add national shipping to it, and it would cost me 16,05 $ And as I said, it is one of the cheaper coins out there... So please remember, it has nothing to do with the pricing for the US, it is more because of the strong Euro. For us here in Europe it is cheaper to buy our coins in the US than here if you compare the prices that way. But you cannot buy all coins over there, and we don't pay 16 $ but 11,50 EUR which doesn't look that much Edit: I checked the price quoted on the website above. The coin there is 260 CZK which is about 9,40 EUR, even more than I would pay here in my German shop... Edited September 19, 2007 by Steinwälzer Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
This wasn't the Euro tho. It was CZH or whatever their currancy is. Quote Link to comment
+Haughton's Hunters
Yes, expensive. <SIGH> I'd LOVE to get a set, the Czech side of my says I HAVE to, however the other half says "It's only a coin". Decisions, decisions... Quote Link to comment

The international sellers really need to come down on their pricing to the US. I'm sorry, I do find it amusing that ya'll find the cost of coins in Europe so extortionate ... it's not just coins, most things in this part of the world are more expensive. I love spending time in USA simply because it is cheap, my USA pals always find it hysterical that I spend hours in Wal-Mart comparing prices and so on. The past couple of years I have had to come across to USA for Board Meetings and conferences and next year the conference and Board Meeting takes place in London ... as you can imagine, owing to the dollar / pound exchange rate my friends are having kittens over the likely costs. Any Brit will be amazed to read that this summer I paid around £65 / $130 for a suite in a Marriott with a whirlpool in my room ... in the UK you could probably expect to pay something in the region of £200 - £300 for the same facilities! With many things you can simply double the dollar value and that's what it will cost in British pounds, however when you consider we are teetering on two dollars to every pound you realise we oftentimes pay 50% more! As far as coins are concerned though, I suspect that's why many Europeans at least have such small collections in comparisson to the folks in USA! Edit to add: At todays rate 260.00 CZK = 13.1095 USD Czech Republic Koruny United States Dollars 260.00 CZK = 6.55875 GBP Czech Republic Koruny United Kingdom Pounds Which is about the going rate for coins in the UK. +Lazer
Well these coins are beautiful, but expensive for us in the USA I see. I may have to cave in an order at least one anyway though! Quote Link to comment

+Hoddevik
I recently had the pleasure of finding one of your older coins in a cache and moved it along up into British Columbia ... I really liked the design and found its art very similar to what we know of as native art in our area. I'm sure this one looks great also. Quote Link to comment
+tiki
Oh MAN! See what happens when your computer is broken for a spell - you miss out on cool coins! Soooo many neat old metal things - I took about 1000 photos of doorknobs Lemmie know if someone is up for a trade! one of the many amazing door knobs/doorways: bought my coins a few stalls down from this guy: Mahalo - Tiki Quote Link to comment

I'll have to think about it, but don't hold your breath. These are one of the few coins I buy, and that's because of my heritage. Both of my mothers parents came from Czechoslovokia, so Czech or Slovok stuff needs to be obtained. Quote Link to comment
+Jackalgirl
My coins arrived today -- lovely, lovely coins. I'm particularly fond of the coin-in-a-coin idea and the fact that the design is so simple, and yet so striking. The only drawback I can find is that the text in the red ring on either side do not line up -- in other words, if a person wanted to drill a hole to attach a tag (and make the coin less steal-able), there isn't anywhere you can drill that won't come out through words on the other side of the coin. Unless, of course, you drill through the center coin design, which I for one would never want to do (it's too gorgeous). It might be something you want to consider for the next one. All in all, though, I'm really thrilled, and very happy I managed to get onto this in time! Edited to add: I keep finding myself taking the coin out of its jacket and running it through my fingers. Good Lord, it's coin porn! Edited October 9, 2007 by Jackalgirl Quote Link to comment
