Well as Paul is asleep, or if he isn't he should be after his all night cacheathon, I'll jump in.

Keeping with the rowing theme,

3/4 of the Gold medal winning Coxless Four from the 1999 World Rowing Championships were on duty on April 6th 2008, Olympic Torch Relay day in London.

Who were they, and what were ther individual roles on the day? (6 parts to the answer).

How about James Cracknell for number 3?

Pete

Pete, you're correct in that James Cracknell was in the boat for the 1999 champs, however, to the best of my knowledge he didn't appear on torch relay day, so no ding I am afraid ... looking for the other three apart from James Cracknell. :anitongue:

Tim Foster then?

No idea of roles (or rolls) for any of them, except didn't Sir Steve actually carry the torch for a short while?

Thanks DG & GD!

A topical one here - faking your one death seems to be technically referred to as pseudocide - what are these other "cides"?

Acaricide

Barbicide

Deicide

Tomecide

Uxoricide

Ding to the last person!

Barbicide: shaving your beard off?

Deicide: killing a god - some feat!

I have this vision of a small librarian pulling a huge stack of library books down onto themselves.*

More seriously, is it a mass destruction of literature/papers?

Can I join in?

Killing lice?

Of course you can - more the merrier! I'll give you a small ding for that. It's defined in wikipedia as "A chemical compound used by barbers to disinfect combs, brushes, etc." which I guess includes lice.

Just Acaricide to go then for the full ding!

As a beekeeper Acaride is an easy one for me.

We use it to kill mites such as Varroa. It's most usualy administered in strip form, suspending the strips between the honeycomb frames in the brood box. At this time of year we avoid using it as it taints the honey and it's not yet appropriate to remove the honey supers. My own bees are harvesting nectar and pollen like mad this week and the heather season has only just kicked off.

We monitor the acaride's effectiveness by counting the rate of mite drop onto a sticky floor and previously assess the rate of infection during the honey flow season by sacrificing a few drone larvae to see if Varroa are present on the pupae.

1.In what year was the Great Train Robbery?

2.How many years in prison did the 12 members of the Great Train Robbery gang get between them?

I think it was 1964?

NO idea about the number of years - I'll try 2400 (200 each).
