+Rebel Alliance Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 As part of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister's guideline for e_government. All local authorities have to provide online mapping services to aid their citizens. Rotherham is well ahead of the game here. We have just implemented our GIS solution to this problem. It can be found here ROAM It provides large scale OS maps for Rotherham & the surrounding areas. Inside the borough more details maps are available. Feel free to use at your pleasure. Let us know your comments. Also please post your local authorities solutions, we could see an end to memory map. We will be hopefully implementing a Geocaching layer shortly available to a select few. Quote

+The Hokesters Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Nice one RA. When these become downloadable to a PDA However no doubt Derby will be many years behind you they couldn't organise a geocaching meet in Central London!!! Quote
+Rebel Alliance Posted November 22, 2005 Author Posted November 22, 2005 (edited) However no doubt Derby will be many years behind you they couldn't organise a geocaching meet in Central London!!! Quite funny this comment as I was offered the Web Managers job there in the summer. Every Local Authority is supposed to provide a similar service by the end of December 2005. So everyone should have access to local area high definition mapping. Mick Edited November 22, 2005 by Rebel Alliance Quote

NickPick Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Buckinghamshire's online mapping is at http://bucksmaps.esriuk.com/ There's OS 50k, OS Streetview (A-Z style), and 1:1250 landline, so you can even see if there's a layby to park the car in! Additionally, you can add layers from the council GIS, including the Rights Of Way. Very useful indeed. Quote
+Mr Hedgehog Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 (edited) Hampshire have got maps available Here Edited to make the link work. Edited November 23, 2005 by The Wilkerson Family Quote
+Kitty Hawk Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Funny, I expected Hants Gov to have the better maps. The link didn't work BTW - it has the "http" bit twice. Quote
NickPick Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 There's also MAgiC, which used OS 1:10k mapping, so you can see individual houses. They also have a great deal of information layers regarding admin boundaries, land classifications etc. Quote
+milvus-milvus Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 I had to search awhile, but I eventually found Northants maps Quote
