+Hoppingcrow
Just checked SpaceWeather.com and discovered that a solar wind is expected to hit the earth some time today and/or tomorrow (27-28 May). Expect your GPSr's to be a little crabby for a day or two. Quote Link to comment

+Glenn
Are you also going to avoid using your cell phone for the same reason? Edited for spelling then edited for proper english sentence structure. Edited May 28, 2005 by Bushwhacked Glenn Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Actually - if you follow the spaceweather.com web site regularly - you will notice that such solar wind stream events happen quite frequently. Possibility of disruption exists but chances are low except for the really big events. Quote Link to comment
+Team Cotati
I am willing to bet that this will make no observable difference in the operation/accuracy of GPSr's for the Earthbound. Quote Link to comment

twjolson & Kay
It all depends on how high up the GPS satalites are. The more into the earths magnetic field they are the more protected. However, if they are in danger, the satalites will be turned off, so they don't get damaged. I have not heard this happen, although I could be wrong. All in all, I am of the opinion that CME are of no consequence to GPS satalites. The exception being huge ones, like last year, that have the power to even knock out ground electrical systems. That's my opinion, anyone know for sure though? Quote Link to comment

+Tidalflame
I went caching on Thursday and my GPS was almost useless. One time when I booted it up it said I was 600km from my actual location, moving at 650km/h. It was assured of this until I rebooted it. Anyone else noticed strange things happening?
