+johnbarber
I would like to know if there is anywhere that a Canadian Geodetic survey marker can be recorded as a find. I found one in a rather interesting spot that I am quite sure has not been seen lately and want to know if canadian markers can be logged like they do in the states? Quote Link to comment
+canadazuuk
Hmmm.... isn't there a locationless cache for this? Quote Link to comment
+johnbarber
I am not sure if this is the kind of survey marker that can be entered for the locationless cache. Quote Link to comment

Not right now - but I read not too long ago that Jeremy was working on adding Canadian Benchmarks. Quote Link to comment

+johnbarber
good to hear that, as I have come across a few of these markers in interesting spots. Quote Link to comment

+BC Eagle
I think the cache called "Canadian Base Network" GC45B1, is the one you are looking for. It is a virtual cache. Quote Link to comment

+Tidalflame
By chance I found a survey cap today that says "British Columbia Legal Survey" and has a bunch of numbers on it, including the date "1987." What kind of survey cap is this? Is there a locationless cache for these yet? Where can I get more information on them? Quote Link to comment
+johnbarber
That is also not the type of survey marker that I found. The one I found does not have the lat and long on it. Quote Link to comment

What kind of marker was it that you found? There are a number of different sites where you can search for the various types of markers, but nowhere to log them as finds yet - other than the few locationless cache ones. Quote Link to comment
+Love Bugs
Hi were abouts did you find the Marker? Was it near the tracks in the town you work in by any chance or was it out in the bush, up a mountain or some other unlikly place? Quote Link to comment
+Tidalflame
Not sure who you're talking to, but the one I found was out along a trail. A pretty secluded area - it's out of the city, and not too many people know about it. Quote Link to comment
+Tidalflame
Yeah. I could post it, but if there is a locationless cache for these kind of things, it would be a bit of a cheat. I just realized that I don't have the coordinates to it, though, and I'd probably need those as well. ...Woops. Quote Link to comment
+Couparangus
I'm not sure why people get so excited about these things. That said, I've tried to find about six BMs from the 1800s with no luck at all. I figured these would be interesting as they are simply a metal rod protruding from some masonry. Okay, that in itself isn't that exciting I'll admit. The only ones I've found are the ones I've tripped over (literally) and the ones that are caches themselves. Quote Link to comment
