mzmtg
Could I make my car a reverse cache? Have people post where they have seen it, and send a pic, or the coords? Hmmm... Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
Too specific. It limits the geographic region. You could do it as a moving cache if you could get it approved. Quote Link to comment
Greymane
I doubt it would fly, but I love the idea. Very original. Quote Link to comment
mzmtg
I doubt it would fly, but I love the idea. Very original. I would even put one of those "Official Geocache" stickers on it.... Quote Link to comment
TheAlabamaRambler
Clayjar managed to get it done for his AlaskaQuest (New Orleans to the Arctic Circle and back in, I think, 11 days!) but that was a well-planned and supported special exception. He had an ammo can attached to his back bumper and arranged to meet folks at highway rest stops along the way, who could log the cache and trade if they liked. I doubt one would be approved as an ongoing cache, but you can certainly try! Building a REALLY tight trust relationship with Groundspeak first might be a particularly good idea! Mushtang
Clayjar's AlaskaQuest 2004 I got to find this one just as he was getting started. It was very cool. Quote Link to comment
Kit Fox
I doubt it would fly, but I love the idea. Very original. Been there, done that Cache Machine. This was approved long before the current ban (11/1/2003). Quote Link to comment
Lazyboy & Mitey Mite
I have done one like that but it can't be done any longer. Quote Link to comment
Prime Suspect
Too specific. It limits the geographic region. You could do it as a moving cache if you could get it approved. That would require a real-time tracking device that updates the coordinates to a web page (or some other method of informing seekers of the vehicle's current location). Quote Link to comment
VegasCacheHounds
There is a cache in Vegas that is on the hood of a prominent local cachers Jeep. It was approved in October, but I don't know if it slipped through the cracks or what. Therefore, I won't say which cache, as I don't want to rat it out. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
What's cached in Vegas, stays in Vegas! Seriously, I recall one such trackable cache being listed at around that time. Maybe we're thinking of the same one. And no, you don't need to say. Quote Link to comment
Markwell
What the guidelines say... Cache PermanenceWhen you report a cache on the Geocaching.com web site, geocachers should (and will) expect the cache to be there for a realistic and extended period of time. Therefore, caches that have the goal to move (“traveling caches”), or temporary caches (caches hidden for less than 3 months or for events) most likely will not be listed. If you wish to hide caches for an event, bring printouts to the event and hand them out there. We realize that it is possible that a planned long-term cache occasionally becomes finite because of concerns with the environment, missing or plundered caches, or the owner’s decision to remove the cache for other valid reasons. Please do your best to research fully, hide wisely, and maintain properly for a long cache life. AND Virtual Cache Posting Guidelines 1. A virtual cache must be a unique physical object that can be referenced through latitude and longitude coordinates. That object should be semi-permanent to permanent. If I post the cache today, someone else should be able to find it tomorrow and the next day. AND Locationless Caches There is currently a moratorium on locationless caches. No caches will be posted until functionality is available to better serve this unique category. So it doesn't sound like it would get listed on this site.
