I'm working on an idea for an interesting travel bug and thought I would get some input from other cachers as to whether or not they would enjoy such a bug.

 

I'm planning on releasing this bug on 04/01/05 if everything works out the way I planned.

 

The general Idea is for each person who picks up this bug to use one of it's appendages for a small celebration before placing it into the next cache. The person who gets it on or close to the 4th of July may use the remaining appendages for their big celebration and then snail mail the tag back to us to resend with new appendages.

 

Below is a picture of the purposed Travel Bug called "Snappy".

From the guidelines

 

Use your common sense in most cases. Explosives, fireworks, ammo, knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools), drugs, alcohol or other illicit material shouldn't be placed in a cache. As always respect the local laws. Geocaching is a family activity and cache contents should be suitable for all ages.

Bad Idea.... some places don't allow firecrackers. GC guidelines don't allow it either. Might as well attach the tag to a couple sticks of dynamite or maybe a block of C4.

Interesting idea, nice execution, but the method of distribution needs some work.

I could get a bang out of that bug!

But make sure you put the TB in a ziplock bag or something, some caches get damp and you wouldn't want it ruined.

Hmm... It's a good thing that TB's don't follow the same "trade up or trade even" rule as regular trade goods. "Took Snappy TB, left Roman Candle".

We still have not figured out this question. How do we keep the bug from traveling to the states that have deemed it illegal to celebrate with it's appendages?
