+team walkingsticks
How does one get a picture into a forum post? I currently have the pic in both Kodak Easyshare and MGI Photosuite. If I want this pic to be in my forum post, what is the trick? I have searched the help section and found nothing on this...it's getting late you know?! Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
You use the IMG button to set up the pic. Like so. What you input is the internet address of the picture. If you have a photo on your computer you have to upload it to the internet or this site somehow. IF you know of a pic you like you can right click and use the 'Properties" to find the URL of that photo. If you upload to your own webspace you will have to figure out how to view the photo to find it's URL then you can insert it. Quote Link to comment
+team walkingsticks
Thanks for the response....not the most exciting topic ever to be sure! I waited up pretty late last night hoping for a quick answer and finally decided to crash. Renegade Night saved the day when I woke up this morning to find....someone cares.....even about something so mundane. Now I will continue on for all the other poor souls out there who might like to do this and are afraid to ask...HOW?! Question Two: Le'ts say someone doesn't have a website of his own he can post to. Is there anywhere else one can post a pic so that it then has a URL? I thought about posting a pic to this sight but where would one post a very random pic here? Quote Link to comment
+TinTN
Can someone recommend a free hosting site that allows hotlinking? TIA Quote Link to comment
+Stunod
You can upload your pictures right to your geocaching profile and link to them there. Geocaching User Image Upload Page After you upload the file, click on the thumbnail preview and copy the web address (URL). Add this into your ING tags in your forum posts. +team walkingsticks
Yeah, I had the same problem....anyone know how to solve that one? I guess I'd rather post my pics through this site that continue to use the hunting site suggested earlier...somehow my shrinky dinks gone bad pics look a little odd among all the hunting pics....! +Renegade Knight
When I tried to use that to post my stats in the anti stats thread I got the dynamic link. As I unerstand it dynamic links will build a graphic from data. It's not a static pic like our avitars. Thus unless the site supports them you can't do them because they are not a typical GIF or JPG graphic file. Quote Link to comment
+Stunod
After you upload the pic, are you getting a URL in this form?: http://img.Groundspeak.com/user/3104358b-e...0fb38a9b4d3.jpg You should be able to copy that and paste it between in IMG tags. I'm not sure why you're having problems with it...works great for me. See, look: [IMG=http://img.Groundspeak.com/user/3104358b-e3db-4f3a-9883-60fb38a9b4d3.jpg] Gives this picture: Edited April 8, 2004 by Stunod Quote Link to comment

+Renegade Knight
The link that gives me that error looks like this: http://www.geocaching.com/stats/img.aspx?t...1084-45c8-835e- Just looked. It doesn't even stick the stats on the image though it's a direct cut and paste. Oh well. Edited April 8, 2004 by Renegade Knight Quote Link to comment

The code that you are entering is the dynamic code to create it...you need to use the jpg file to get it to show in a forum post. There was a thread a while back on how to do this...I'll see if I can find it for you. EDIT: It looks like you need to save the image and upload it inoreder to use it in an IMG tag Edited April 8, 2004 by Stunod Quote Link to comment

WH
How do you get a tag line under your avatar? I can't seem to find a way to do this? Go into your "edit my profile" page. Theres a window that says "Forum Signature" Whatever you type in there will be added to the bottom of every forum post you make. Quote Link to comment

+Dragoon
Hmm, regarding the geocaching stats image, my girlfriends site has a black background, the white image looks pretty nasty on it, any way to invert it dynamically? Quote Link to comment
Jeremy
mm... unfortunately no. Right now it's just in white. Quote Link to comment
+CrimsonWrath
If you are using IE 5.5 or greater, you can try this out: <img src="http://www.geocaching.com/stats/img.aspx?uid=6a3a45e9-2a01-4f40-99a5-ec012e1a58ea&bg=1" width="200" height="50" ALIGN=RIGHT border="0" STYLE="filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Chroma(color=white,Enabled=True)"> Of course update the UID with yours. That will make all the White pixels in the image transparent. You might need to put the image on a non-black background since the text will still be black. It also looks like there are a few almost-white parts that aren't made transparent. Kind of a hack, but its close! Quote Link to comment
+bons
If you are using IE 5.5 or greater, you can try this out: Let me rephrase that a bit. It should read, "if all your visitors are using". Any visitor using a different browser (a common occurrance) is not going to see what you want them to see. Quote Link to comment

Your non-IE 5.5 visitors will just see the normal image with the white background. Quote Link to comment

Try this post in the benchmark forum & scroll down to our answer to Black Dog...use the link to one of our archived caches to log a note & then upload an image. Then try the right click thing on it from there...this seems to work & we do not mind people using our archived cache in this way...at least it will serve some purpose other than just taking up space.
