Gizmo & Brazin
If a person is banned, can they still log in to view the board, and just can't post? Or if they want to view the discussions, must they do so as a guest, because they can't log on? I'm not planning on getting banned, but enquiring minds want to know..... Quote Link to comment
woof n lulu
I believe they can still read the threads...just can't post. Quote Link to comment
ironman114
I believe they can still read the threads...just can't post. I believe you are right. So just be warned that those banned can see what you are posting about them. Quote Link to comment
SBPhishy
Oh, so you mean PILTY will see how stupid we all think he is, even when he's banned? Quote Link to comment
ghOzt
You don't even need to be registered to read the forums. You should always be mindful of what you type: your post may be someone's first impression of the game of geocaching. Quote Link to comment

Tobias Maximus
I'm a little confused on people being banned. What exactly can get you banned from Geocaching? I only ask because my friend's TB has turned up missing (a bit of an oxymoron there, hm?) and the person who apparently has it is a banned member. Should we kiss that bug goodbye? +SBPhishy
People are banned from the forums. There really is no way to bad people from actually Geocaching. Also, there are probably some members who are "stand-up" geocachers, who have been banned from the forums for mouthing off innapropriately, so the TB still could turn up. Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
Being banned from the forums only means you can't post. You're geocaching account is still active. Being banned from geocaching means your account has been shut down. The two are separate so far as I know you can be banned from on or the other, or both depending on what the admins do. +yumitori
This is partly why sock puppets were invented. I thought it was to make fun of geek-boys who fall all over themselves when cute Japanese girls post on the forums. Quote Link to comment
Johnnie Stalkers
One of the first caches we found was placed by Electric Shavers. Apparently they where banned for logging fake finds. Quote Link to comment
DamOTclese
Why would someone be banned? Quote Link to comment

Criminal
Back when a few of us were valiantly fighting the forum wars to preserve your right to humor, I was banned. I could both read and post, however my posts were thrown into a queue and required approval before they would appear. Many would never see the light of day. Quote Link to comment

Renegade Knight
Why would someone be banned? A personal attack in the forums will get you a warning. Using not FCC language will get you a warning. Using humor, posting off topic and so forth used to get you a warning. Posting humor that is over the edge or just posting over the edge will get you a warning. Get a few warnings and you get modded which is where your posts are reviewed before they are allowed to be seen. Generally posts that will get you banned are deleted and for some reason I miss out on all the fun and can't fill you in. As for having your geocaching account banned. Stealing and moving caches will get your account banned. There are probably other things but this is the one I've seen. Edited March 31, 2004 by Renegade Knight Quote Link to comment
