  1. I keep track of my numbers just for fun. I am also in a friendly competition with my friend (I'm losing, sadly enough) to see who can get the most finds. Of course, Geocaching is all about having fun and experiencing the outdoors, but who says you can't have a little friendly competition with it?
  2. Well, it's technically the 22nd now, but I'm still up, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jeremy! Thanks for everything you do for Geocaching! Cheers, Toby.
  3. YES! Excellent idea I'd never thought of. I periodically go through my found caches to see logs after mine. It would definitely be nice to get that follow-up notice.
  4. NOOOO! I really like having my copy tag! I use mine as a keychain so that I always have the TB number handy. And its a great conversation piece when acquaintances ask about geocaching. I do understand cost and stuff, but I'd like to see this feature continued! Bright side: I really like the new design! Keep up the great work, Jeremy!
  5. Well, it depends. In some caches, you need to prove you were there by taking a picture. When the owner requires a pic of you with the GPS, s/he wants to make sure you visit it with the intention of logging the cache, and not just pulling an old photo from your 1983 family vacation photo album! Other than that, it's just a fun way to take a picture of your caching experience!
  6. I think that if a "Report Problem Cache here" is added, it'll only be opening the door for abuse. Cachers who have vendettas against other cachers (and, yes, I know of several of these instances) might use it to report all of their caches. If a muggle truly has a problem with a cache, they'll have the initiative to use the "Contact Us" link. No need to add a negative link on there!
  7. True true, Jeremy. But given the problems with slow load times on weekends, it seems as if adding new graphics will slow down the site further. And that page is getting awfully crowded. I appreciate all your work, Jeremy, but my vote's against this enhancement.
  8. No new comment here. Just adding my voice to the many who are asking for an ignore feature. Jeremy - any word on whether or not this will ever be implemented?
  9. What an awesome idea! How did you make those images?
  10. Carnies....Circus Folk...Small hands. Smell like cabbage.
  11. I wouldn't say it's a missed opportunity. Point is, you're still going to go caching whether or not your GPSr has a geocache icon. But it is a cool little feature. I just use the default crosshairs on my Sporttrak Map.
  12. My friend and I are looking to set up a very challenging multi-cache (four stars, at least!) in the Greeley, CO area. We are constantly looking for new ideas that'll make our cache just a little bit more difficult to find. What kind of challenges has everyone been faced with? Obviously, don't post spoilers...but just give me a general idea. And naturally, the rewards for the first few FTFs will be substantial!
  13. Where can I get these programs. Never heard of them before?
  14. I agree. Also (forgive me if I get off topic here), I think it would be cool to be able to locate caches in a certain direction. Example: If I'm going north, I want to find all caches within x amount of miles north of here.
  15. I really like this idea! I hadn't thought of it before. I think I will start doing that, as there are quite a few premium members in my area and it would be cool to give them first shot at my cache!
  16. If I understand your question correctly, go under "Travel Bugs," then on the right hand side of the screen, it says "List travel bugs you own or have found." Just click on own. I agree that it is hard to get to. There should be a link from the Quick View. Hope this helps!
  17. Here's a cool story about my TB, Carl the Dog: Copied from a post on his TB page: Well, Carl and I have been flying around the 4-Corners for the past two weeks. He has been with me in AirCare 1 and AirCare 2, a rotor-wing and fixed-wing air ambulance. We have been to Durango, CO, Cortez, CO, Denver, CO, Tucson, AZ, Gallup, NM, Albuquerque, NM, Dulce, NM, Shiprock, NM and various points in between. Carl got to ride in both aircraft and even made two very ill children smile as well as comforted a 7 year old boy who had severe burns to his legs and right arm. Carl was quite the hit on several trips. I have uploaded a few pictures of Carl with both aircraft. He even spent some time with Lucy my yellow Lab. It's time to turn him loose and let him continue his travels. I will place him in a nice warm cache in the next couple of days. Thanks for letting Carl come play with us at AirCare. TTFN, MedicPat Click here to look at the pictures that MedicPat posted! I never imagined that my first TB would have such a great adventure!
  18. I am in contact with an park ranger in trying to set up an actual cache on a state park in Colorado. We're still hammering out details on exactly where and how we want to place it. He said that he is even willing to help maintain the cache and put park service materials (stickers, literature, etc. ) in it. I think that if an effort is made to communicate with the park service, they can become our allies instead of our enemies in geocaching.
  19. I'm a little confused on people being banned. What exactly can get you banned from Geocaching? I only ask because my friend's TB has turned up missing (a bit of an oxymoron there, hm?) and the person who apparently has it is a banned member. Should we kiss that bug goodbye?
