+Runaround
or is this cache a bad idea? I can understand a combination lock where you need to search for clues or hiding the key nearby, but this seems like a problem waiting to happen. Now where did I park my car??????? Quote Link to comment
+Jacksons
It must be you,I dont see any problem I'm a man and I can change if I have to,I guess. Quote Link to comment
+Ttepee
I really like the idea, though it might be a bit more at risk for frustrated vandalism. I hope it lasts a good long time. It would be kind of neat to come across a key in a cache someday that would open a box in timbucktwo.... might even prompt a sidestep in a trip someday. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Odd's are they cept the master key and can copy new ones if the old ones all dissapear. Cool idea all in all. Wherever you go there you are. Quote Link to comment
+Planet
simply do a search for caches found by Team GPS and check those logs to find where the keys are within a 50 mile radius, go get the key and go get the cache. Fun! Wish I lived near a cache like this. Or near a town called Novelty, now that is a novelty. Cache you later, Planet "To err is human, to forgive....$5.00" Quote Link to comment
+embra
I'm ok with the idea of keys; I certainly wouldn't look for it until I came across a key. I *can* imagine an increased probability of someone calling the bomb squad to investigate a locked ammobox with "electrical and mechanical" contents. That's not necessarily a deal-breaker, either, but there would be some extra concern that it's especially well-hidden and/or relevant information is available on the outside of the container. +sherk
3 keys that open 3 locks which contain pieces of the coordinates. The locks are TB's which can be anywhere in San Diego and the keys are logged so you have to hunt them down but they fit all 3 locks. Still people manage to find it! I'm going to get this one as soon as a lock comes closer to home. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=44982 Quote Link to comment
+sherk
make that 3 locks and 5 keys. Quote Link to comment
enfanta
The only problem I could see with this cache is for those folks who download coords and seek caches without reading the cache description. IF that happens (and could be a long-shot) it might be useful for the owners to post an explanation on the cache itself. But that probably won't be necessary. Sounds like fun! Quote Link to comment
+georgeandmary
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=42333 Not a problem so far. Except one person locked the key in the cache. He had a lock pick set so he was able to get it out. george Pedal until your legs cramp up and then pedal some more. Quote Link to comment

+hoovman
but I bet Runaround was concerned from a public safety standpoint. Try to imagine the Geomuggle point of view: "oh look, a military-looking box. Hmmm - I wonder what TeamGPS means. Maybe I shouldn't, but I'll look inside. Oh, it's locked. Hello, 911?" Now, if the cacher laminated the usual intro sheet to the outside of the container, I'd be less concerned. Still, it's not as simple to me as: "What's the big deal? Of course it's OK!" +Runaround
I guess I had a couple of concerns. First, the cache owner has found only 3 caches and only one of the logs speaks of the keys. If the key was a Travel Bug, I think it would be more practical. At least there were ways to keep track of the keys with the other caches referenced. I'm expecting the key to go MIA fairly quickly. Second, we've already had one locked cache damaged in the area. It had a combo lock and the description included a mathematical problem to solve to get the combination. As an alternative, you could go to other multi-cache points and get the coords. Well, someone solved the "problem" with a large rock. We've also had a few caches that were frozen shut that people "opened" with various tools, ruining the caches. Lastly, a locked military surplus box full of electrical and mechanical parts? Let's hope someone doesn't find it accidentally or I think we'll have a bomb squad scare. Now where did I park my car??????? Quote Link to comment

+Markwell
My cache that has a combo lock is placed with the permission and encouragement of the land owners (in fact, they instisted it be done that way). I'm not the least bit worried about a Geomuggle stumbling on that cache. Markwell Chicago Geocaching Quote Link to comment
+elifish
I agree it would be more "suspicious" to geo-muggles, but I found a multi one that was locked and really enjoyed the challege, so to a geocacher= good, non cacher= not so good. elifish Quote Link to comment
+Kevin & Susan
Finding the main cache is easy on this one: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=41350 . But it requires finding multiple locations afterwards for clues to puzzles, trivia, and math & physics word problems to arrive at the combo for the lock. Quote Link to comment
Tahosa and Sons
Being a Chef I know variety is the key to real flavor enhancements. So why not put some real flavor and fun into the cache hunt. And I like the idea of making it a little more difficult to complete a Cache Hunt. I will have to look into the possibility of doing one some time in the future.
