Another irritating bug

Frequently when I click on log cache, maps or anything including just clicking to go to forums, I get transferred to Groundspeak's jewelry advertisement website. Does this happen to others?

I did not know that there was a separate Geocaching.com "jewelry advertisement website."  Are you referring to Shop.Geocaching.com?  If a different website, what's its URL?

Just did it once again. Clicked drafts/field note and the dadgum thing took here AGAIN. https://www.jewlr.com/products/JWL0063/espiral-princess-cut-ring-with-accents?shopfeed=1&sku=SS&gclid=CO_UpvLy89YCFdK4wAoddv0FwQ

I didn't say dadgum. Apparently and sadly Groundspeak has a censorship program installed.

That is not a Groundspeak website.  Perhaps your computer has some malware or virus that is causing redirects to this website.

It's a groundspeek advertiser. You see them on the right side of your screen.

What you see on the right of cache pages, etc. are mostly Google advertisers, not Groundspeak's. The latter uses Google Ad Services to source the ads, which in turn can use your browser history to target them to you, but they shouldn't be intercepting URLs. It sounds very much like your computer has caught something nasty.

This is the geocaching web page with Groundspeak advertising. It's rotating and you also see their store advertisement and trackables. There's a link on the bottom that says "advertise with us" . When clicked your taken to Groundspeak to buy advertisement. I have NEVER visited this jewelry website. I only place I see it is on groundspeaks rotating ads. This ONLY happens on geocaching website. I don't get hijacked anywhere else.

So what you're describing is you click on one part of the page (a legitimate link), but you then you get taken to another site as if you'd clicked on the advert. Sounds like a "click jacking" which could be something bad on your computer, or something bad the page is doing to you.

Given that nobody else is experiencing it I would guess it's something on your side. 

I would :

get your PC virus scanned,

clear your caches etc and try again,

try another browser,

try another computer,

Nothing new -- the forum's had some autocorrect functions for years, including rewording profanity.  (Or capitalizing "Wherigo" or "Groundspeak," both of which I typed out in lower case but should be fixed for me when this posts.)

Yep.  

Sometimes folks post when still upset, and that "correction" (I'd think)  is probably the thing that keeps folks from being banninated for their language.  They should be happy for that.

Thanks, That's very interesting. I deleted cookies and so far no problems. Virus scan says I'm okay.

I think I know what's going on.  Have you looked at your browser history?   Has your wife been using your computer lately?
