bryanchouse
I'm new to Geocaching as of 11/2/13 and I trying to find out what general guidelines there are for achievements. Mostly I'm interested in the 24 Cache's in 24hrs achievement. The question I have there is does the 24hrs start from when you leave your home, you start looking for your first cache or from the first found cache. Any other general guidelines on other achievements are welcome also. Quote Link to comment
+niraD
What kind of achievements are these? Is there a local Challenge Cache? If so, then the Challenge Cache listing should explain the criteria for completing the challenge. See also: http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=206 Is it a badge of some sort that is generated by some statistics program? If so, then the documentation for that statistics program might explain what the criteria are for the various badges. Is it something else? Quote Link to comment
+geocat_
I am equally confused. Can you clarify where you heard about this? Quote Link to comment
bryanchouse
I just heard of people saying they made an achievement of 24 caches in 24 hrs before. I also seen on some of the websites that sell geocoin's that they have 24 caches in 24 hours or 48 caches in 24 hours. So I was just wondering what the guidelines for saying you did this where. +Walts Hunting
If it is a geocoin than just do it (shouldn't be hard, there are places where you can do 24 in 24 minutes), then order the geocoin. Quote Link to comment
+TriciaG
There are no guidelines for this. Heck, you could buy the geocoin without having accomplished the feat. So I guess you can decide your own rules. Quote Link to comment
+redwoodkestrel
Check out the profile page of shell1fish: Profile link. She keeps list of challenge caches by state, so you can see if there's a local challenge cache that's about finding 24 caches in 24 hours. If there is, the cache page should list what the cache owner has decided qualifies for completing the challenge. Quote Link to comment

Had a small group of cachers do 500 caches in 24 hours in my city....and 150 of them where puzzle caches. Quote Link to comment
bryanchouse
So from what I gathering from all the comments is that its more of a personal achievement that cachers kind of toss around to say I've done this many in one day. Quote Link to comment

I guess it might be, but 24 in 24 hours is not really that impressive in the current world of geocaching. But heck, it's a great goal for a newbie! Quote Link to comment
+ngrrfan
So from what I gathering from all the comments is that its more of a personal achievement that cachers kind of toss around to say I've done this many in one day. Yes, like (in my case) "I've done 100 in less than 10 hours." Quote Link to comment
+terratin
Well, it's an interesting achievement nonetheless. With over 2000 total finds we so far only found 20 on a day. We considered doing a challenge that required you do find 50 mysteries on a day, but the trains out to a good location for that weren't going all summer and we could not take our bikes on the buses the railway company offered during that time. cezanne
Well, it's an interesting achievement nonetheless. In my area it might have been one 7 years ago (personally I never would have called it an achievement). Nowadays it is ridiculously easy. Cezanne Quote Link to comment
+NYPaddleCacher
So from what I gathering from all the comments is that its more of a personal achievement that cachers kind of toss around to say I've done this many in one day. To answer (it's more of an opinion) your other question, I think that most "find this many caches in a day" or "nnn caches in 24 hours" that the day starts when you arrive a ground zero for the first cache. Lots of people will travel hundreds if not thousands of miles to get to a place where they can find hundreds of caches in a day. Last year I left my house on a Friday morning and then traveled on four different airplanes and it was early Sunday afternoon when I finally stopped traveling and could look for a cache. Travel time only counts in between finds. Quote Link to comment
+thebruce0
There are also websites that will generate special 'badges' and achievement recognitions if you provide them your list of finds, so that you can show off these 'awards' in your public profile. Our profile statistics page was recently added, but it's really just a fraction of what a lot of cachers like to display in their public profile. Some regions even have special sets of badges for local accomplishments (like completing significant series of caches and whatnot). I'd say check the profiles of some of your friends and what out what they've got on display. Usually there are links to the source, the website/application that generated the display. I could see someone referring to one of those personal profile awards, the way you described it. Quote Link to comment
