+AbbieK
My first Cache is in place, I've written up the description, all that is left to do is to submit it. I'm nervous - I've read the Knowledge book, the Follow the Arrow site and the GAGB site, so I think my cache will be published without issue. I'm still nervous though! I've tried to go for something a little bit different (not too much though, I'm not that inventive) but still quite easy. I've got bigger plans in mind for my next couple of hides, but wanted something a bit more basic for my first go. EEk! Quote Link to comment

Good luck with it, the next stage will be nervously checking the Emails/cache page every 5 minutes once it's been published to see whether it's been found yet, and whether it was well received. +The Blorenges
Good luck! There are so many things to consider when placing a cache these days - and they don't get less as time goes by - but it's a learning curve and it's worth it once your cache goes live. Hope you'll have good news soon. MrsB P.S. And if there's a hitch, you might want to read my comment here from a topic earlier this year. Quote Link to comment
+Fianccetto
I'm trying to get some caches 'on screen' tonight, as I have placed them (and was hoping to get a few more out tonight before it gets dark.) having trouble. There's an error message coming up saying 'you do not have a valid Date Placed.' I've put something on the feedback forum and I've added to the thread here. Anyone who can give me a clue how to proceed, please answer on that geocaching topic thread! Merci buckets. Quote Link to comment
+Jaz666
I'd double check the dates, parts of the site use the American format by default. i.e. MM/DD/YYYY Quote Link to comment
+Fianccetto
Yes, that is what I had to do - go to my profile settings and edit my preferences to conform to the Great American Way! Oh well, at least I have submitted the first of the batch now (don't hold your breath though, they are not meant to be on general release for over a week, and that's not taking into account any to and fro with reviewing process.) +Team Noodles
there seems to be an issue with caches placed before the current date, kinda like using a travel planner for a time in the past. try moving placed to today? Quote Link to comment

Expectations duly raised for the next couple of hides I was just coming to update but see someone had already spotted! I'm amazed at how quickly the reviewed published, what dedication! I tried to give as much helpful info in the 'Notes to reviewer' section so hopefully it made his/her job easier. I was sneaky and did some peeping when the cache went live. Saw the first two groups arrive, and it was a lot of fun! I'm really pleased with the reviews so far, there was another log that was emailed to me but I can't seem to see it. I've added the Handicaching link (I couldn't do it without the GC code, but don't get that till it goes live - is there a way round it?). I think I'll have to up my game for the next set! +The Blorenges
I've added the Handicaching link (I couldn't do it without the GC code, but don't get that till it goes live - is there a way round it?). You can get the GC number for your cache before it goes live, as soon as you start to create your new cache listing on the submiussion form - Un-tick the little box which says "Enable cache listing. It is ready for review. (If the listing is not yet ready to be reviewed, uncheck this box.)" Now you can fill in the rough details and approx co-ordinates, then go to the bottom of the form, put in the two ticks and click "Report New Listing". In a blink of an eye you'll get to see your new cache listing as it looks atm but it doesn't go through to the reviewer's queue. You can then see the GC number for the cache in the top right corner. You can edit, and re-edit your cache details as much as you want to get it right. Then, when you're happy with it, and your cache is in place ready to find, you go back and re-tick that little box and this time the cache will go through for its review. Well done on your first placement. MrsB Quote Link to comment
+MartyBartfast
Well done on getting 2 favs so quickly, sounds like a good cache. I've added the Handicaching link (I couldn't do it without the GC code, but don't get that till it goes live - is there a way round it?). If you mean the GC12345 number, then you get that as soon as you create the cache page, even before you submit it for review. Quote Link to comment

Congratulations! Looks very well received. I'm leaving mine out and unpublished for a week or so partly to check to see if they get muggled without any help from geocachers, and so I can get a number of them out at the same time (and some of them are not ready yet. Need to double check coords, get some added to a bookmarked list, etc.). I enabled a few and sent a note to the reviewer to please not publish them yet which seemed to work, not sure if I did the wrong thing there. How do you add a Handicaching link? Quote Link to comment
+AbbieK
How do you add a Handicaching link? If you go to the Handicachingwebsite you can chose to 'Rate a Cache' - once you've filled out all the details, you can copy a link, or a link with the 'badge on'. Making sure the 'contains HTML' button is ticked on your Cache page, you can copy and paste the text from the handicaching site. Good luck with your caches, sounds like you are doing a lot of planning! I've got a couple of 'works in progess' weathering in my garden at the moment. I think I might be hooked! +Fianccetto
Thanks. Think I have the hang of it, rated the one cache i have active but I think the others have to go live before anyone can rate them. Edited July 22, 2011 by Fianccetto Quote Link to comment
