+Cybercat
I was trying to do some cut and paste logs yesterday after GC did their site update. The box where you write your log is a little different. Every time I tried to paste, that option was greyed out and I had to click a button that says Source in order to complete the pasting. Why do I have to do this extra step now? Or am I doing something wrong? Quote Link to comment
+Lovejoy and Tinker
Grrr. I hate those too. Especially for our 4 trackables that are in a race and we cut and paste to each one to update the 'leaderboard' every week or so. I also hate the video on the PQ page. As you try and scroll down the page the cursor hits the video and the page won't scroll any more. So you have to steer the cursor to the sides to get the page to scroll to the content you visited the page for. Why on earth didn't they just put a link in big letters saying "See a video of how to create PQs" rather than messing up the page for everyone. I sometimes wonder if these things are thought through fully. Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
I had to click a button that says Source in order to complete the pasting. There are bugs all over the place. They know about it. [OT: It's all been made horrible now but THEY know about it... so... enjoy! ] Anyhoo... Until the menu gets non-greyed out, you can paste clipboard text in two ways: Click "Edit/Paste" in the browser menu or Press "CTRL-V" on the keyboard Edited November 10, 2010 by kunarion Quote Link to comment

There's a "Don't show this video again" link below it. I clicked it and now the video is gone \Mette Quote Link to comment

+DarkZen
I don't like the new "features" either... ... or cut and paste logs for that matter. Quote Link to comment

The option to paste a log is available, but not always right away. Sometimes when I right clicked the box it was greyed out, but if I tried again closer to the top left area of the box, the 'paste' option was available. Quote Link to comment

Good, some peoples' workplaces allow GC.com, but not YouTube (and you can get in trouble for video streaming), so shoving auto-loading videos down peoples' throats is never a good thing. I've had to use a different news site since they started putting auto-loading videos on the pages, and we get in trouble for streaming video. Quote Link to comment

I'm glad that I don't work in a place like that. I actually watch quite a bit of streaming video, typically tutorials on various technologies. In fact, it's basically part of my job description. Last week I was behind the big red firewall and discovered that twitter, facebook, and most streaming video sites were either blocked or had their bandwidth significantly throttled. Andronicus
I like being able to do html in logs. When you are trying to do a nice log with track logs and photos etc, this should make for a realy nice log! Quote Link to comment
+TerraViators
It's going to be super cool to be able to use full HTML in logs. I did notice that a few of my trackable pages were messed up. I had to readjust the HTML in them. Quote Link to comment
+hukilaulau
OK, I'll say the obvious: if using cut-n-paste has become too inconvenient, you could just write something about the caches Quote Link to comment

The trackables screens have had the HTML style input boxes for some while. Will this change give full HTML facilities in logs does anyone know? You always could put basic HTML into logs, and with the firefox script GCBBCode this was a very straight forward thing to do. If full HTML is going to be allowed, I can see a few problems. Possibly. With oversize pictures being posted, or stupidly large text in a fancy font that's not easy to read. Or then again maybe people will get creative and there will be fewer short logs. I see everything has gone back to 'normal' for the moment, so it's difficult to see what functionality is going to be allowed. Quote Link to comment

I was wondering that too as I was typing my last comment on this thread. Will you actually be able to put pics into the log. How will that work for e-mailing the logs to CO etc.? HTML was never possible in logs. the stuff you see with [square brackets] is not HTML, it's BBcode. the website then converts the BBcode to HTML for display in the browser, basically the same as it works in this forum. at least i'm pretty sure that's how it was, i've never seen HTML being used in any logs. as it is now, both BBcode and HTML work. HTML is being filtered though, so while you can enter any HTML tags you want, most will be filtered out and won't be shown in the log. this includes the <img> tag for embedding pictures, and i assume it's gonna stay that way. apparently some of the existing BBcode tags won't have an equivalent HTML code, for example font colors, so once BBcode is disabled, it won't be possible to use that for formatting any more. at least that's the current state, it's always (theoretically) possible for them to change the filtering rules and allow more tags in.
