Planning a trip to Ireland

We are going to Southern Ireland next Thursday for 5 days - fingers crossed for a smooth crossing :D oh and perhaps a few caches

I'm going for one day  next Tuesday!

Fly there, drive around, bag some caches then fly back all for under 70 quid!

Geocaching Ireland Forum try here as we have a good spread of cachers all over Ireland (North and South) and let us know where and when you will be here and we will try our best to help.

I'm thinking about a trip to Ireland in the summer. Could you please let me know of any caches that are ones not to be be missed. Thanks

Where in Ireland do you intend to visit? Its not *that* small a country ;)

Anyone using Memory Map 1:50,000 for NI?

We hope to come over this year and will get it if it's as good as the UK versions. Looks a bargain at £25.00.

Cheers, H.

First I've been aware of it! Do you have a link?

I have a feeling it won't run on MM OS though and that you will need MM Navigator commonly known as MM Europe as it is OSNI and OSI over here not OSGB.

Maps are here: Link

After a closer look it looks like £25 gets the operating system, the maps need to be downloaded after. I'll have a closer look when I get more time, perhaps. Would be interested in your comments though.

Interesting. That price gets you 1500sqkm of mapping free by download with the software but the box below shows the whole of NI for £100. Pricey enough for a one off trip but probably a good long-term investment. Would be good to see a screenshot of one of the maps.

Well this totally depends on where you are going, or what you are planning on doing...

There's some great caches which involve long hikes etc, in remote scenic places, there are great hides in cities etc too..

Just keep in mind that as dino said earlier, although Ireland looks small on the map, getting around isn't as easy or as fast as you may wish.

I think your big priority is not to try and get too much in
