Windows vista with a palm

I have windows vista with GSAK on my laptop and want to get a palm with cachemate and not sure which palm should get.

Most of the older palms use a version of Palm Desktop that has sync issues with vista. The z22, TX and TE2 can use 'Palm Desktop by ACCESS 6.2' which apparently doesn't have these issues.

I've found that installing this software seems to fix all the issues with Vista.

When I first got my HP Vista last year, I had problems sync'ing my m515 with the computer. After a bit Palm came out with the download and I've been sync'ing my Palm ever since. No problems.

Vista didn't like OEM Palm software, but updated Palm Desktop and M500 and Vista now getting along well here.

I think I saw a similar thread a few weeks ago after I went through this struggle, and now simple copy the cachemate file to my SD card on and insert it into the palm. Using this methodology, you do not have do worry about syncing up your palm. Works Great.

If you download the update from Palm, everything will sync just fine. I can do everything to my Palm on Vista, that I could do on my XP.

I have vista ultimate and have had no problems whatsoever. I was using my old windoze 98 dell till the end of last year because of the vistaphobia. Now that I have it I wonder what all the fuss is about.

 

That being said, I am considering a palm m500 with 4.1OS on it. I have looked at the palm website briefly to see if there was an update area but didn't see one, I didn't look that hard though.

 

Will 4.1 do the trick? Should I consider one of the other older palms?

I wouldn't get a Palm older than the m500. That model should work just fine with the Palm Desktop update for Vista.

Is Palm Desktop by ACCESS 6.2 the update you speak of? It's all I could find when I googled palm desktop update for vista. the m500 was not on the list but there was a differant update for it. It didn't seem to update everything but I am not looking to recieve email and such, just geocache. I'm sure though I will use other features.
