+PopUpPirate Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 I've got a Nokia N95, but was thinking it would be done via MMS? Quote
+keehotee Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Apparently it's possible via "First to Find" (the software) - but I haven't tried it. Quote
+MartyBartfast Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 (edited) I've got a Nokia N95, but was thinking it would be done via MMS? At one time if you had an Orange contract and signed up for a free Orange Email account you could set up filters to have it text you based on the content of incoming mail, the notification texts were free too. Don't know if they still do it but it would be worth a look if you're using Orange. Edited September 11, 2007 by MartyBartfast Quote
Edgemaster Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Some mobile providers have a email->SMS gateway, just send an email to a certain address and it'll forward to you via text. I can't remember full details of which UK providers have it. Quote
+Birdman-of-liskatraz Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Orange does it - I have it up and running... Quote
+Moote Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 The problem with this concept, is that when Decci, Eckington or Lacto come back from the now opens much much later pub, you get flooded with texts which wake you up Quote

+PopUpPirate Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 Got it working via hotmail, 'cept it's gonna cost about 25p a pop I think. Going to try the alternatives, especially as I'm with Orange, cos knowing my luck, Mongers is gonna set an Oldham Way 2, coupled with Lollybob doing a Towpath Trail extension, and I'll have to remortgage! fraggle69 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Might not be a bad idea being woken up at 3am so you can nip out and bag that FTF . I am sure you used to be able to setup a yahoo filter and they would chard you 10p per notification could be costly Er, how's about a Tmobile contract with web 'n walk?? Quote
+MartyBartfast Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I just checked my Orange webmail and you can set up filters based on sender and/or subject and also specify times when the SMS alerts will be sent, so no need to be woken from your slumbers to nip out for that FTF. Quote

+PopUpPirate Posted September 20, 2007 Author Posted September 20, 2007 Done it via oneandone.co.uk and at 9p a go it's cheap enough Quote
