TrekkerPooch
Something I read in another post got me thinking about this, and I was kind of curious to see what people have to say. Do you leave a signature item in caches you find, and if so, what is it? (Who knows, maybe I've came across a few of these.) I don't have any signature items myself, but there does seem to be a couple different themes to my swag: my childhood toys (especially Transformers), and Gonzaga University stuff (stickers, pins, etc). Other than that, it's usually random stuff. A lot of my swag is stuff I picked up from another cache-the gift that keeps on giving. Quote Link to comment
TopangaHiker
This probably isn't original or clever or particularly interesting but my sig item is a guitar pick. Why? Because they're useful, abundant, inexpensive and can fit in the smallest of caches. Quote Link to comment
+stepshep
Some people's items can be found in these threads: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=166518 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=165396 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=160420 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=120734 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=149148 For awhile I left a laminated calling card, then started leaving labeled CITO cans, and now I'm on the search for something else. +Tsegi Mike and Desert Viking
See my profile for a pic of our sig item. I havent made any new ones lately. I found a guy who makes aluminum coins for 30 cents each. Im toying with the idea of seeing if he will make a personalized coin for us to use as a sig item. Quote Link to comment
+chrisandjanet
Army patches - I collect 'em, and have quite a few doubles for trade or whatever. Quote Link to comment
+Breaktrack
Items from the Battleship Texas (BB-35) gift shop. We make a trip down to the Texas once in a while to replenish our stock of items from the gift shop to place in caches. One of our early physical caches was a tribute to the Texas, but is now archived as hurricanes wiped away the area it was in. Our Battleship Texas items have been in caches throughout Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and even Utah. Mac Quote Link to comment
+geospyder
I leave two Dutch stuivers (5 cent coins) in a mini ziploc. On the ziploc is a return address label with Geospyder Sparks, Nevada USA While it is my sig item it is also useful in that a lot of people collect foreign coins. When my father-in-law passed away a few years ago we found small bags of these coins all over the house. He collected these like we collect pennies in the USA. It wasn't worth taking them to the bank in Amsterdam to convert into Euros. It took me a couple trips to bring them all back. It was fun going through customs and xray machines. I culled out the valuable ones and sold them on eBay, the others, worth maybe $1 to $10 each (catalog value - which you never get) are what I put in the mini ziplocs. When caching outside the USA I place a US dollar coin in the bag. I'm surprised at how many emails I've received asking where the tracking number is. Not too many people outside the USA realize we have dollar coins. Quote Link to comment
+mbharpman
I leave guitar picks too. I always have several in my pocket. But my sig is a tiny Hohner harmonica. Quote Link to comment
TopangaHiker
I leave guitar picks too. I always have several in my pocket. But my sig is a tiny Hohner harmonica. You leave a Little Lady as a sig item? That's cool. Quote Link to comment
+Black Dragons
We will always try to leave a little Dragon or something related to Dragons. Quote Link to comment
+wandererrob
I'm mostly known for running upstairs two at a time, flinging the door open and saying, "Ha, ha! Caught you, Mildred!" But seriously, no sig yet, but I have an idea for one that I haven't made yet. Basically it's a wooden moose made from 4 interlocking pieces of wood. The body, with the legs and antlers interlocking perpendicular to the body. I've only made a heavy paper prototype so far though. I can carry them around flat and assemble at the cache or leave them in abaggie in the cache. I'm also considering using them as a general calling card when I go interesting places, just for my own amusement. Edited August 24, 2007 by wandererrob Quote Link to comment

After reading some of the other threads, I got some Shrinky Dink Ink Jet plastic at my nearby big box craft store and made some cool plastic chips with my girl's pictures on it. The prices were reasonable and they made a great half inch by one inch plastic calling card for us. Quote Link to comment
+slapshot52
I have a mini-fleet of VWs in my driveway (’72 Super Beetle. ’02 Diesel Turbo New Beetle and a Jetta) so I carry a bag of small die-cast VWs I pick up cheap at places like Wal-Mart. Kids seem to like them and adult “Vdub” fans are always excited to find them. I even have one starting on a long road back to Wolfsburg as a Travel Bug this week. +agilefox
My brother and his family (Team Nutty Dog) use a caribener shaped as a dog bone, with their caching name on it. Quote Link to comment
+BigBill54
The Good Wife and I have been using birch wooden nickels for about a year. We often meet cachers at events that have found our sig coin. I got them from geocoins.net after I found someone elses in a cache near my house. They are laser burned with our names and a design (from the geocoin library) on one side. The back side has an ad for geocoins.net. It costs MORE to have the back left blank. If we're going to a special event, I'll add a date or event abbreviation on the back. +Lutehawk
currently I have been leaving jewelry or charms, I have been thinking of making a bunch of special signature swag when I get around to it. Quote Link to comment
+Oldhippy & Granny
We leave 9-11 coins when we find a cache big enough Quote Link to comment
+steve p
When people leave a higher-end sig item, is that usually in addition to any trade items left? Or do nicer sig items get left in caches as trade items? I'm picturing nicer sig items like carabiners, wooden nickels, etc., not something like a business card. Quote Link to comment

+Lakeshore Geocachers
We leave foreign coins in a small plastic bag with a name sticker on it, we use the same sticker in logbooks too. They are handy, lightweight, cheap and come in various sizes so we can even leave them in micros. We started with wooden coins, then tried diecast Jeeps, then discovered the coin thing. We take them with us to events and will hand them out to the kids who love them. Quote Link to comment

A bit like playing McDonald's Monopoly when you ended up with 3 copies of 2 of the three properties you needed to win anything. Besides I cache so sporadically that it could take 2 months for me to drop off one moose's parts. Wow, I typed that original post horribly!! LOL! +Western Mass Clan
We create our own wooden nickels from blank plugs. I stamp one side with our log stamp and apply a printed, round Avery label to the opposite side. 2006 Edition 2007 Edition Quote Link to comment
