Im freakin torn.......

Decided on LegendHCx or VistaHCx............

should I get the Vista, when Iam pretty sure that I will never really need the EC or BA?

the difference is $30, which isnt much for two extra features, but then again Ill probably

never use them...........

 

My dilemna:*worried that Vista might glitch or "break" due to having extra programs(EC BA)

*heard that the compass sucks(or doesnt works that well)

*BA needs constant adjustment, and I dont even hike above 4k feet.....I feel that

the GPS Elevation works fine

but, for a mere $30 I could have a "better" GPS.............

 

I know Iam being indecisive, but this may help others decide what they will get........and Im

looking for personal opinions of people that already went thru this decision making

process and their "hindsight" feelings or opinions............

An electronic compass for geocaching is not needed, you would be better off spending the $30.00 on some good hiking sox while at REI, something like Smart wool or Thorlo soxs.

There's an awful lot of misinformation spread about electronic compasses. You sometimes have to wonder what their agenda is.

 

Read this and this for a better understanding of EC and what it will and won't do.

If the $30 seems small to you, then go for the Vista. It is worth it to be able to have the pointer point in the right direction even when you are standing still.

Get the compass. It doesn't "suck".

I like the compass in my 60Csx. I'm glad I have it. At least I don't have to dig out the magnetic to take a quick bearing while standing still.

I've been very happy with the EC in my Meridian. I miss it in my new Delorme PN-20, but the Delorme mapping capabilities are awesome and make up for no EC.

Worse case. You won't use the EC. Sounds like you want the Vista so get the Vista and mess with the EC. If you don't like it you are out a few bucks that it appears you won't miss.

Better to have it and not need it. That's why I bought the 60csx. I leave the compass off except in the woods where it comes in handy. I keep my trusty Brunton handy as a backup.
