  1. I have used GeoScout in the past on a couple of Windows Mobile handhelds and it worked very well. They just released a new version not long ago with enhanced features and WinMo 6.1 compatibility.
  2. I have one that I use occasionally. The wifi card that works best for me is the Socket Communications 802.11G Compact Flash card. The model number is Go Wi-Fi! P500. Others I tried had driver issues and one just completely died. The Socket Comm card is expensive but it does work well.
  3. I found these containers on County Comm while looking at bags that might be good caching gear. Check these out: Tube Vaults. They are sturdy and not terribly expensive.
  4. I find it hard to get my brain around comments like this, as they don't spell out the problems or deficiencies the user had with the unit. Early on there were some issues with the Colorado, and those have largely been taken care of with firmware updates. Here are some of the specific issues I had which were persistent through several firmware updates and repeated compass calibrations: Screen visibility was constantly a problem, I had to run the unit with the back light one notch back from full brightness in order to see the screen well enough to use the unit. Due to this battery life was abysmal. It would take much longer to acquire a lock than my 60csx, changes of direction would confuse it and cause the map to freeze and jerk about wildly for several minutes until it would recover, and the accuracy was always 10-20 feet worse than my 60csx. I ended up returning the unit for a refund since it was essentially useless for geocaching, the main purpose I purchased it for. In the end, the Colorado was simply more trouble than it was worth to me, so I sent it back. Regarding your perceived shortcomings of the PN-40, a larger screen would be nice but as long as it works correctly, I can live with the screen it has. If you would like more details feel free to search the other posts I made regarding my experiences with the Colorado 400t.
  5. I use a Scosche 2 port USB cigarette lighter charger with my PN-40 and the original data cable. It provides external power while in the vehicle and conserves the batteries.
  6. Long story short, I have owned both units and it is about which one just works. I sent the Garmin Colorado 400t back for a refund and kept the Delorme PN-40. Without bashing Garmin (I own 5 other Garmin GPS units), the Colorado just had too many problems and bugs, it was useless for Geocaching. I tried updating the firmware and doing work-arounds but in the end it just did not measure up. I went back to my 60CSx until Delorme released the beta firmware for the PN-40. Once I got the PN-40 and updated to the beta firmware it has been terrific. None of the issues that afflicted the Colorado and it is seeing 6ft. EPE when I am out and about. With the paperless caching that the beta firmware offers it is the perfect geocaching/hiking GPSr for me.
  7. I have both units and the PN-40 will be replacing my trusty 60Csx for geocaching and hiking. The main deciding factor for me was the paperless caching features recently added.
  8. I have tried both the Colorado 400t and the PN-40. The Colorado had major problems with screen visibility, the accuracy was poor, and the map jerked around while moving like it couldn't figure out where your track was. Needless to say, the Colorado went back for a refund. The larger screen was nice but it was useless if what you were looking at was incorrect. The PN-40 screen is smaller but what it displays is better. The PN-40 has been terrific! It was useful right out of the box, and it works just as advertised. The PN-40 will be replacing my trusty 60Csx for geocaching.
  9. I've had the PN-40 for a few days and it is definitely worth it. Got it during the $50 rebate deal (now expired) and out of the box it was far more useful than any other GPS I have tried.
  10. Nope, I repeatedly calibrated the compass. It just did not work as well as the 60 Csx.
  11. Thank you for making this post slight different from your previous three identical posts, it's VERY refreshing and I love it when people stretch their wordsmithing efforts, bravo! : Before I get accused of being a troll, I will say that I posted my experiences with the 400t in several threads that I thought were pertinent. If this is a violation of the forum rules, I apologize and I am sure the moderators will correct my errors. As for your opinion of my "wordsmithing", wannabe moderator jerks like you are the main reason I choose not to participate in forums like these in the first place.
  12. I bought a Colorado 400t when they first dropped a few weeks ago. What a piece of junk! I updated the unit several times and the updates did nothing to address the problems it had. I am now considering giving a Delorme PN-40 a try.

  16. I just tried using mygarmin and it has the same problem as geocaching.com. It still downloads as a waypoint. It is really weird how this works for some people but not for others.
  17. Thank you for the update. Please keep us posted.
  18. I would rather not pay for a program and have to go through multiple operations to accomplish something which used to work for free until it stopped working because of changes to the Geocaching.com website. I will concede that GSAK can give you more information and flexibility than the Send to GPS plugin but I'm lazy and I like the click and send simplicity.
  19. I am having the same problem. See related thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=173730
  20. I use GeoScout with my iPaq 2215 and bluetooth GPSr. It even downloads the logs and the cache details if you want to.
  21. I am having the same problem with my 60CSx and reported it via a support request. There are other threads in the GPS and software forum reporting the same problem. Something broke the send to GPS plugin.
  22. I don't think it has anything to do with the icon. The problem is something has changed on Geocaching.com. I use the send to GPS plugin to download the caches to my 60CSx and it has always worked fine until recently. Now they show up as waypoints and don't contain the same information in the notes field. EDIT: Related thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=173730
  23. Mine is doing the same thing as well. I think it may be related to changes made by Geocaching.com.
  24. I loaded all the KY topos and te CN 2008 NT segment for KY and they worked OK. I guess I will try to reload all the USA maps for CN 2008 NT and see if they will load. I reseated the card, thanks for the tip.
  25. I tried to load all of CN 2008 NT to the 2 gig card while in my 60 CSx and about half way through it said communication error and stopped. Do I need to format the card? It is a new one.
