+gingerbreadmen
Does anybody know of any bookmark lists of unusual caches that would be suitable for a landmark find? I was hoping to find something that may require the use of a small boat or something else "out of the ordinary" etc. The cache would have to be suitable for an elderly gent approaching his 1000th find Quote Link to comment
+ryme-intrinseca
I seem to remember that there's one in Wroxham, Norfolk that is located on an island. The terrain isn't difficult, but you need a boat to reach it. There's also a similar one off the coast of Hampshire I think. I'll try and find them... [goes off to have a look...] Which area of the country are you in btw? Quote Link to comment
+ryme-intrinseca
Okay - the Norfolk one is... here - will get back to you about the Hampshire one in a mo... Quote Link to comment
+ryme-intrinseca
This is possibly the Hampshire one I was thinking about - placed in 2004, and only found about four times! Quote Link to comment
+cacherelle
This one is a tricky one, but would be much easier to get to if you took a canoe with you, than the route we took! There's loads of DNF's as people tend to cop out on it!!! Quote Link to comment
+gingerbreadmen
Hampshire's a bit far to go, it needs to be do-able in a day from South Lancs so probably somewhere in between the Lakes, North Wales and the Peak District. Rakers of The Lost Ark looked like a favourite but it's had a few dnfs and we don't want to have a wasted climb. Quote Link to comment
+Paul & Ros
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...10-33f1750348b1 is on an island on windermere, I've not done it so can't comment on how good a cache it is an the last person to try posted a DNF but it's a lot closer to you than the south coast. Good luck. Paul & Ros Quote Link to comment

May be a little note/email to the owner, nearer the time, asking about a sitrep for the cache. They may even do a maintenance check - just for you and your impending landmark cache. I would. +ryme-intrinseca
Ooh, yes, you should go to North Wales, some of my favourite caches have been found there! What about this one? There's also Blue Lake - not an 'unusual' cache as such, but definitely the best location I've been whilst Geocaching, in fact the best location I've been ever, actually. Quote Link to comment

+The Bolas Heathens
I'm sure I heard about one in the Lake District on an island called something like St Hilbert's Island... Sounds like the perfect one for your goal Quote Link to comment
+Just Roger
I'm sure I heard about one in the Lake District on an island called something like St Hilbert's Island... Sounds like the perfect one for your goal St Herbert's Island in Derwent Water. At this time of the year you'd need to take your own boat as I don't think the boat hire operates in the winter Quote Link to comment

It would be a fab one to do for a milestone cache thats for sure! We may even try it for our 700th! Quote Link to comment
