The Golem
Hi I'd like to organise another camping event in Keswick this summer but I'd prefer not to clash with another event. Is there a list available of all forthcoming events? I know about theInternational Geocaching Event Calender but I was wondering if there's one specifically for the UK... Hope someone can help - Scaw - no excuses this year... Edited to add: I hope to use the Hollows Farm campsite again and perhaps the Scafell Hotel at Rosthwaite. Would love to attend as this would be my first event, however, as an oldy with dodgy legs, what sort of walk height are we looking at? Quote Link to comment
The Golem
None to attend the event 'cos it's at the pub. Quote Link to comment

Bud Lightbeer
Great, we loved the campsite when we did a cache there. Will def attend if we are free as we can't make CoC this year as it's too far for a weekend. Budmand Nettie. Quote Link to comment
The Golem
Right then - here's a date for your diary... Sunday 3rd of June 2007 - Camping and Caching in Cumbria. The event will be at the Scafell Hotel deep in the Borrowdale valley and if your sleeping under canvas we'll be camping at Hollows Farm again. The event. I hope you can attend, if you have any questions please get in touch via my profile. Paul Quote Link to comment
ZoomLens
Hmm interesting - let me ask Mrs ZL and then I'll get back to you. Looks great! Quote Link to comment
The Golem
Thought I'd give this thread a little bump - wouldn't want you to forget about it... I went for a walk around Derwentwater today, exploring some of the places that I could hide some new caches. Now, the thing is there are already plenty of good caches around Keswick and Borrowdale, I wondered whether it would be possible to put out a few short-lived caches, I could hide them a week or two before the event then remove them after perhaps 3 months. Would this be permissable? I don't just want to leave a micro in every hollow tree... Quote Link to comment
The Cache Hoppers
Probably a bit too late ... but don't forget there is a list of already published events at Geocache UK. There's bound to be a clash with events at some time during the year, particularly around CITO day, but given the growth in numbers in the Geocaching community there's plenty of scope. +The Golem
Here's a link to the nearest caravan site:Low Manesty Caravan Club , it's about a mile from Hollows Farm. Quote Link to comment
HazelS
Paul Forgive me if I'm being ignorant... why would we not want to camp at hollows farm, but camp at Low manesty???? I'd MUCH prefer to camp with everyone else! Quote Link to comment

I'd MUCH prefer to camp with everyone else! Looking at a general campsite page it looks like Hollows Farm do not take caravans, hence The Golem's post. I think they are ok for campervans, though correct me if I am wrong. We should be coming (in our new VW camper)... just need to do some planning, but I have booked the time off work Helen Quote Link to comment

The Golem
Thanks for the bump I've checked the forecast for next weekend but it seems it could go either way - perhaps MrsB would kindly share her boudoir with any cachers whose tent is blown away I'll be at the site from Thursday evening, the group field is the first on the left as you enter the site - look out for the Geocaching logo Quote Link to comment
scaw
are you all sorted with cache boxes or do you need some? Quote Link to comment
The Golem
are you all sorted with cache boxes or do you need some? If you've got some to spare I'd be grateful There are already half a dozen new caches ready for the event but a few more wouldn't do any harm... Quote Link to comment
Simply Paul
Good luck with this. I enjoyed my first visit to the Lakes last August and would love to come again... If I didn't have a lot on in June already. I hope the weather stays (gets!) ok and you all have a great time Quote Link to comment
scaw
mr golem is coming over tonight to pick up some caches so seems there might be some FTF to be had over the weekend Quote Link to comment
The Golem
Thanks to Scaw for supplying 4 new caches, I'll get them hidden in time for the weekend. In the meantime there are 7 new caches dotted around as well as the event. We'll be heading down to Hollows Farm later this evening... Quote Link to comment

The Golem
Home again after a great weekend. Thanks to everyone who attended, some of them are still out there caching as I type this. The weather held off for most of the weekend, apart from a light shower as we sat in the garden of the pub - it wouldn't be the Lake District if we didn't have any rain! Quote Link to comment
John Stead
Glad you had a good time and sorry I was not able to come! Quote Link to comment
