+evelbug Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Ahoy-ho! Some of the wooden nickels, poker chips and tokens that I've either found in caches or received in trades have been put into small ziplock bags just a little bigger than the item. Where does one get these. I'd like to get some for my poker chips and pathtags. Thanks, Bug Quote
+The Leprechauns Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Craft shops usually have them, like a place that sells beads and other stuff that has lots of pieces parts. Quote
+sbell111 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 (edited) I get mine at Hobby Lobby, but I think Michaels has them, also. Edited to add that I just noticed your location. Check Michaels on 62. They'll probably have them. Edited January 18, 2007 by sbell111 Quote
+Bill & Tammy Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Walmart also has them in the crafts section. You get quite a few in a bag and they are very reasonable. Quote
+sbell111 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Conveniently, WalMart is just down the road from Michaels. Quote
+wimseyguy Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Papertown, If It's Paper, Party City, etc. Look in the foodservice/catering aisles. Quote
+StarBrand Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 The local walMart had a packet of 100 of them for something like 89 cents. My wife found them at the same price at a Hobby lobby within a week and now I have plenty. Quote
+evelbug Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 I looked in Michaels the other day and didn't see them. I also wasn't sure where in the store to look. I'll check by the beads. If not, I'll check out Wally World. Thanks. Quote

The truth is, I find myself wandering up and down all the isles looking for what I need everytime I go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Perhaps near beads or coin collecting stuff. You might need to ask. +jasond Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Sometimes those bags can turn up in drug deals if you're lucky. Also, some department stores attach extra buttons to clothes in small ziploc bags. Just bring some scotch tape to reattach the buttons after pilfering the bags. Quote

+vaddynwashere Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Joanns has them in 2 sizes. Large is suitable for a reasonably sized travelbug or a notebook, small fits a micro stash note and log strips folded in half. RiteAid sells them in for sorting pills, in the same aisle as their little pillboxes. RiteAid ones are DEFINITELY waterproof. You could tell by the thickness of the polyethylene ummm the clear plastic I mean. Quote
+stormcloud Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I get them from the local dollar store. Quote
+evelbug Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 I went to Wal*Mart after work the other day, and the had every size but the one I wanted. So, yesterday I stopped at a different Wal*Mart while at work and picked up a pack of small bags. Now my poker chips will stay nice and dry when I put them in caches. Thanks, Bug Quote
+LostMontanan Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I had this same question a couple weeks ago. I used the PAF option and was told about Hobby Lobby having them. Checked it out and sure enough, 100 2"x3" bags for $.50. Can't beat that. Quote
+mamid Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I was at Michael's today and they had a yarn brand I like for cheap. So I bought a bunch of scarf making yarn and am now in the process of making about 20 scarves for my swag bag. It takes me about an hour or two of actual sit down and knit time to make a scarf. I'm keeping the pink one for myself and DS wants a blue one. I also bought yarn needed for a sweater I'm making for myself and for a ribbon scarf. There was also some kistka (sp) supplies, so I'm thinking about dropping off some dyed eggs at specific caches. Or not. But yah, you can get very creative when it comes to caching tokens. I've found poker chips and a rubber duck. I think the scarves I'm going to be dropping (and have dropped) will go over well, no? Quote

+ClayC Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 my local Staples had them in quite a few sizes, with a special white strip to write on. Quote
+DudleyGrunt Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 So far, I've managed to get all I need from work. I work with computers and all kinds of stuff comes in ziplock bags. Normally, I would have just thrown them away. I've even gotten a variety of sizes. Doesn't help you much, but though I'd added by two cents. Quote

Ammo boxes are best for this, but they tend to have an odor that you might not want. Quote

I found them in Michaels near the beads. That was over a year ago; they might have placed them elsewhere. If you can't find them, ask a clerk. Quote
+Critter Creek Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I found some at Walmart in the craft section near the beads. These bags where not very thick. I went to Walgreens the next day, and they had some that were a thicker grade. I got those also. I like the thicker ones better. I found them near where the daily medication deviders are. They also have the pill fobs, for micros, if anyone is interested. Quote
+Team 5150 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 CRAKE has them. Nice thick ones. Fairly cheap too. I think they were 10 for a buck. You gotta figure the shipping too though. Quote
