+_BBQ_
I've noticed that some people's profiles have a map of the states that they've cached in. How do you set this up? Quote Link to comment
+Jeep_Dog
You can visit this link for one of the easier, and from what I have seen on profiles, more popular ways to do that. Quote Link to comment

+Thrak
I've seen nicer maps though. Such as this one: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?id=17148 I wonder where they got that particular map or if they created it themselves. I like the blue much better than the red and it's not such a squished looking map. Quote Link to comment
+Jester2112
It came from here. I've got one for the FL counties I've cached in and will eventually get around to changing out my "states cached in" map for my profile. Neat thing is that you can choose which color to shade the county/state and some other changes. It also auto-populates the date that you last updated the map as part of the file as in the example given showing they last updated their map on 05/16/05. Edit: to fix links. You must be using something smaller than 1024 pixels across, or you're either using some sort of sidebar that's using up screen real estate, or you have the font size set bigger than normal. +Thrak
I'd have to agree. Are you using some ancient video settings like 800 x 600 or something? (I work for a CA State agency and they ALL use this setting! It makes me crazy to see them all living in the early 90's.) If you are using (what I would consider the minimum) of 1024 x 768 resolution then you must indeed have some "favorites" thing or something else open on the side of the screen to take up enough room to force the pic off of the screen. (OMG do I hate Internet Exploder!) Seriously, the map has zero effect on the presentation other than to make it better. Note: If you find using 1024 x 768 resolution makes the icons and text too small on your desktop simply select Large Fonts in your display setup. Many folks do. That will allow you to use a modern resolution and still be able to see the icons and fonts well. It doesn't make anything BIG or anything like that. Please believe me that I'm not trying to be snotty or anything. I sincerely want to help. Quote Link to comment

I don't see what they are seeing... But will admit it screws up the profile when I look at it from Waymarking.com. Is very weird. Will be updating the page soon as we've added another state recently! -J Quote Link to comment

+Team MnMizzou
So stupid question, but once I've made the map on that Texas A&M site, (the fancier ones) how do you get that up to your profile. I have the red one now, but wanted to change over, only I'm not sure how to get it to go where the "latest news" section is. Thanks. Quote Link to comment

+Markwell
Save the image to your hard drive - then upload it to a spot on the internet (your profile would work). Then the HTML code is simply <img src="url"> where url is the website of the image. Quote Link to comment

+Markwell
It's a screen resolution thing. The profile image is 300 pixels wide, and the map is 617 pixels wide. The table that displays the information is set to expand out to the width necessary. If the map were smaller, the whole thing would fit nicely onto a 1048x760. OR If your screen resolution is set higher (1280x1024 or 1600x1200) the profile page would look fine. As a test, here's a really wide image... You can find the FULL size of this one here - it's a full 1276 pixels wide. I have a "test" account that will eventually become my son's account when he wants one, and I've put an profile image (which uses the "display" width of 300) and the W I D E image in the body of the profile. Here's what the profile looks like. I've purposely overdone the problem with width so that even people set to a VERY high resolution should see the problem. Now - what can be done? Nothing systemically. But, it would be grand if users would consider the width of their "map" image and that a full 617 pixel wide image may good things up a LITTLE for those with lesser resolution. It looks like in a 1048 screen resolution, any image greater than about 420 pixels wide will cause the profile page to require the use of the horizontal scrollbar to view the entire page.
