+Ed_S
I'd ask at another local cemetary - one that has a full-time staff. If they don't know who owns it, they'll know how to find out. Quote Link to comment
+HugoBear
I'd start at city hall, myself. Or the county if you can. Quote Link to comment

Some older cemeteries really have no "owner". It might just be on town or state property. If you make a good faith effort to track down the owner and can't maybe there isn't one. Place your cache, make sure you are being sensitive by not placing it on or near graves and hope your approver goes for it. Quote Link to comment
+Lacrosse Fox
Its a private cemetery. a familys from the 1890's. should i still got to city hall Quote Link to comment
+Teamhawaii1981 & blueicyrose
My family has an old cemetary in Maine, and I know other cemetaries in that area are usually all located on private property owned by the family or the people they sold the land to. I would go to city hall and see what you can dig up or maybe ask some of the house owners nearest the site. Quote Link to comment
+Cool Librarian
Yes, check city hall. Also try your local library - they may have an old directory. Also try the historical society of the town the cemetary is in. Around here we have many historic cemetaries and cemetary caches. I douybt that most of them have permission - but if it is a private family cemetary, trying for permission is really advisable. A virtual most likely wont get approval, so try for a micro in or near the cemetary. Good Luck! Quote Link to comment
hide & seekers
My family takes care of an old cemetery. The township owns it, so the township trustee is the one who hires us. Just another possibility of who to go to. Quote Link to comment
+Jester2112
Call any funeral home in the area. They're in the business so they know Everybody in the business. Quote Link to comment
+Team Neos
Or try the local momument company (the people who make the headstones). Quote Link to comment
+Isonzo Karst
County tax assessors/collectors know EVERY property owner, and it's a matter of public record. How easy those records are to use is a whole 'nother matter. In the county south of me, the tax office has all its records available online, search by coordinates! My county has about half its records online - weirdly searchable, with a lot of broken links. Very helpful folks at the county office though. Quote Link to comment
