  1. It's gonna be a kid's cache at the Deltona Library, focused on getting parents to read to their children. It's about half filled with children's books now, and as $$$ allows, I'll buy more. Once I have enough, it'll get placed. Because it's for kids, it's gonna be a very short hike and a simple hide. Kudos to you for that kind of cache, man. Wish there were more like it.
  2. According to the front page... "There are 366535 active caches worldwide." I bet they all aren't in playgrounds. Find some to enjoy and let the people with kids find the ones in the playgrounds.
  3. I was about to ask for a clarification when I saw the text under the picture...
  4. Shoulda snagged a picture of that one! That actually would be pretty cool (no pun intended) but very hard to log I think!
  5. For all those who wrote here about personal diabetes experience, check this out! http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...1bf&k=63970 For those who's bent is more toward the geocaching and TB aspect... thanks for helping out!
  6. Are the leaf patterns applied with a stencil?
  7. Another pic to add to the collection http://jdavis955.home.comcast.net/CoolCach...tainersPG1.html Can I make a really time consuming request for you Rex? It would be awesome if the pics on your page were thumbnails we could click to see the full size version of the original picture. More often than not, the devil is in the details with these caches. It makes it VERY hard to learn the finer points of the hide if you can't make out the details in the smaller size pictures. Naturally, I'd expect you to proceed at great speed on this request... since we are paying you handsomely for this service. So hurry up, OK?
  8. A Road to Nowhere Abandoned highway taken back by the forest in CHICAGO of all places...
  9. I've got a Sony DSC-P50. Still looking?
  10. Hey miles58! I was going to ask this on a local/smaller scale, but with all these Lowrance folks crawling out of the woodwork... You mentioned having a bunch of maps on one chip? Will my iFinder (basic) allow multiple maps on one chip? I'll try it soon, but in the meantime, do you know off the top of your head if it works?
  11. Oh yes. One of these made a 7+ visit DNF before I found the #$@% thing. Very good hide.
  12. Ditto that. I want a copy! (Hi there CW)
  13. Brother, that's a LOT of coffee. You must have bionic kidneys.
  14. I think it's cool. Or at least pretty original. It's just a way of educating folks about an old superstition. Sure, only locals (and the odd lucky traveller) would be able to truly comply with the spirit of the cache. He did say he wouldn't outright delete those who didn't follow the rule... But it's DIFFERENT. Isn't that reason enough to say "go for it"?
  15. Simply awesome. Thanks to all who keep making this site go and the apps that go along with...
  16. Now there's a cold water joke waiting to be told...
  17. You da man, Jeremy. You da man.
  18. What is the deal? I was looking at an area on the map south of White Bear lake (around Bellaire Park) and when I hit Identify, a bunch of caches that weren't on the map showed up in the list! Cool ones I didn't know about! Anyway, I was curious about why that was how it was. No green box icon, nothing. But they are there nonetheless when you "identify". These are 2 examples of this phenomena... GCV7QN and GCV7QP. Are they too new to make the list? Or shouldn't that matter? (I hope it doesn't!)
  19. I'll be there for a while this fall for work. Post what you find out here. I'd like to know if the caching there is worth bringing my stuff along...
  20. I keep a variety of "cache repair" items in my 4x4, so for minor issues where I have a suitable replacement container handy, I'll often make the repair for the owner (even if it's not an identical container -- the only time this doesn't work is when the container itself is part of the camo). I'll also replace internal cache items like plastic bags keeping log books dry, etc. when it seems the current one has seen better days. In the end however, if the cache is trashed and not replaceable (or securely re-hidable albeit maybe now inside a plastic bag, etc.), I'll pick it up and immediately notify the owner (and set the "needs maintenance" flag) so that the issue can be addressed. Most owners would rather have the pieces of their muggled cache (and most importantly the log book) back than to have it blowing around the woods or getting wet in the rain. At least, I know I would. Ditto. All cachers ought to try to carry a few ziplocs, etc with them to do just this sort of thing. The kids and I found one that need help just yesterday.
  21. Since you asked... I distinctly remember telling the kids "Long pants and socks, no sandals! You don't want prickers or poison ivy!" Too bad I didn't listen. We set out bushwhacking to a cache, tall weeds and the whole nine. Success was had, logs were written, we went back to the truck. My legs started to itch (socks and shoes, but shorts not pants). I wrote it off to sweat and dirt. Showwered good and thought nothing of it until the next morning. Still itchy. Stayed itchy for a few days, then REALLY itchy. Scratched too much and doctored too little. Fast forward a week (or two) and between the open sores, swelling and general pain I could just barely walk. I saw the doctor (who sort-of congratulated me on my pain tolerances) and he said how fortunate I was to have the absolute minimum intelligence to keep from having my legs amputated. I had turned poison oak/ivy into cellulitis and a major infection. I had weeks of antibiotics and steroids afterwards. I still have scars on my legs (kinda like leopard spots) and I still cache in shorts. But I can spell 911.
  22. BD (Becton-Davis) makes their strips in the same container. I am diabetic and proud to see you looking for ways to make your diagnosis a way to get cache containers. Good way to make yourself test often too.
  23. Just to clarify - Digital Maps? Is that seperate from the Mapcreate stuff? The thread / no post thing... I don't know how I did it either...
