+Beta Test Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 When I leave a sig card in a cache, they're there for other people to find/take. But if I wanted one to stay, just to 'leave my mark', would it be acceptable to laminate it to the inside of the container somewhere. I know the best thing to do would be ask the owner, but there is not always a method of doing so. So if it were your cache, would you mind if someone did this? Quote
+briansnat Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I think if someone did that to my container, I'd be annoyed. Why not just staple it in the logbook like most people? Quote

Swordmaster7022 Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I'd take that as an act of vandalism. Just sign the log book. Quote
+BadAndy Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I had some return address labels made (the small ones you find in ads in magazines) that I've stuck inside of caches that I've found. I've never had a complaint. I think calling it vandalism is a bit harsh. Quote
+AuntieWeasel Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I think calling it vandalism is a bit harsh. Ooo! I don't. Anything stuck to my cache container without my permission would annoy the bejeebers out of me. Quote

+Birdsong-n-Bud Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 I think if someone did that to my container, I'd be annoyed. Me, too. I wouldn't like that. I'd LOVE to have them drop their card in, but I wouldn't want the container changed in any way, including having anything permanently affixed to it. Quote
+Strohem Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 It use to annoy me that folks started taking signature cards/items out of caches. Then I got use to the idea of the signature items becoming collectibles. I appreciate the fact that some folks don't want their cache containers changed. However, I put my caches out there for you to enjoy. Although I "own" them, please feel free to laminate away! It's a decon container or an ammo can, or maybe even Tupperware...knock yourself out. Just don't steal it. I do like it when folks leave their stickers, stamps or cards inside the log book. Quote
+Beta Test Posted November 29, 2004 Author Posted November 29, 2004 Matbe someone could hide a library type of cache for sig cards. There could be those baseball card things for regular cards, but what could I do for a larger, non card item? Quote

+PC Painter Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 (edited) If I want my card to stay, or if I leave it for the cache owner, I'll make sure that my card says that on it. Otherwise, it's there for ANYONE to take. I actually went out of my way to make mine pretty cool, in hopes that people will want to take them. The graphics are nice, I laminate them, and I attach a scarab pendant to them. It's like a combo sig item/card. So, when I see cards in a cache, loosely left in the ziploc bag, I will take one or two for my collection...unless there's something on the card that makes me think it should stay there for the cache owner. Isn't that about how most of us do it? Am I breaking any unwritten rule here? Edited November 29, 2004 by PC Painter Quote
Dale_Lynn Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Adding a signature card to cache is just adding another piece of clutter in cache.... Isn't signing log book enough..... Dale Quote

Dale That's pretty limited and narrow minded thinking. As the Penguin said, one man's trash is another man's treasure! Wah Wah Wah! Besides, I too have begun to collect unique signature items and enjoy looking at them. I label the logbook, as well as drop in a signature card and a signature key tag. Dale That's only your opinion. I like taking cards that I do not yet have. Everyone's cards are unique....moreso than a McToy. Plus, I made sure that my signature cards were well done, so someone gets something cool, when they take one. Quote
+planetrobert Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 I personally wouldn't do it. If you did it to the INSIDE of my cache that would be ok I guess. The outside, I'd rip it off. Quote
+JohnnyVegas Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 I do not see a problem with leaving something attached on the inside of a cache, but not the outside. Most of mine are camouflaged on the outside, so something on the outside would be a real problem. As far as taking sig. card etc. We sign the log and leave sig. buttons in the caches we find 2.5 inch or a 1 inch depending on the cache size, they are for who ever wants them, We mention when we log our find that we have left them so if the cache owner wants one, they know it is there. +ZackJones Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Several of the caches I've found have some sort of sticker attached to the inside of the lid indicating that some person had been there before me. As a cache owner I wouldn't care if you stuck something to the inside of the cache container. If you were to stick something on the outside I would be annoyed by it and would remove it. Quote
+fly46 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 If you want the card to stay, attatch it to the log book. Personally, I'd be peeved, too, if you were sticking things all over my containers. Quote
