Fourcorners
I'm in need of a data cable for the Garmin Legend GPS... does anyone know where I might pick up one, without having to order it? Quote Link to comment
SCP-173
Circuit City has a large selection of GPS cables. Also check Dicks, Gander Mtn. or any other good sporting goods/outdoors store. Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
I've seen them at Target, but the price isn’t competitive. Quote Link to comment
+strikeforce1
Also try, Circuit City and Radio Shack, along with Wal-Mart, Kmart, some Office Supply companies that would sell gpsr's. I would call around your area, and ask about it first. Be specific about your needs! You want the "patch cable". SF1 Quote Link to comment
+Midway Cafe
For a few $'s and a little bit of time you can build one yourself. I've been using my homebrewed cable for about nine months and there have been no problems yet. Here is a link to one of the site's that I used. A home-made Garmin data cable Cache On, MC Edited to add- I found that the best local sources of cables in Rhode Island were the marine and boating suppliers. They had cables for every sort of GPS, but were still very expensive. Edited September 11, 2004 by Midway Cafe Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
I buy connectors from Pfranc and make my own. It ain't rocket science, and it's a lot cheaper than buying one already made, plus I make some custom cables that aren't sold. If you want to buy a made-up cable, you can get them from Pfranc also, or from PC-Mobile. I haven't seen many cables at local stores - in fact, the number approaches zero. Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
Stupid forum software won't let you delete duplicate posts, and doesn't always tell you when it posted. Edited September 11, 2004 by NightPilot Quote Link to comment
+Beta Test
Have you tried www.garmin.com? Edited September 11, 2004 by Beta Test Quote Link to comment
+thennig
Gilsson Technologies You may not want to order the cord, but I got mine for a Garmin 12 from these guys and saved about $25 from what Dick's wanted (Gander Mtn doesn't sell my model cord anymore). Quote Link to comment

No but you can buy a serial to USB adapter at places like CompUSA and Office Depot. They work perfectly from what my friend told me. She bought hers at CompUSA. Quote Link to comment

I had nothing but trouble when I was trying to use one to connect my GPS to Microsoft S&T. SOMETIMES they work fine, other times they're a PITA. Quote Link to comment
+sbell111
I bought mine off ebay. It was much cheeper than the one offered by Garmin. Quote Link to comment

Must be where you live because I had to order mine. Nobody had one in my area. I used Toshiba on line and it took almost 2 months cuz it was back-ordered. But it works great. Skeezer & Summergirl
A big thanks to Midway Cafe for giving the link to making your own data cable. We've done it and it works great; it looks pretty spiffy too! Quote Link to comment
thorin
You can get them for $7.45 in the US. And you can get connectors for like $4 or 5 each from pfranc to make you own cable. Or you could go completely DIY or homebrew basically for free. Quote Link to comment
