Kanto
I noticed other users have been able to do that...is it a premium or charter-based option? I've tried to use UBB code for making links in the profile, and they do not appear as links or work as links when I view the profile (after logging out and in again)...it only shows the entire code text. Thanks for any help! ______________________________________________ Kanto Quote Link to comment
Kanto
Does anyone have any idea for this? ______________________________________________ Kanto Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
I don't do it, but I think you have to use URL code. I could be waaaay wrong. "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day" - Dave Barry Quote Link to comment
+Lone Duck
<test> test worked </test> The easy way to include a link in a message is to use the URL button in that Green Bar right nest to the word Message in the window. Note that the link you created has been formatted in UBBCode in the message window. Follow this link, and UBBCode will be explained to you. +Stunod
Duck, I think he was referring to putting links into his PROFILE, not an individual message. I think the only way to get a link in your profile (easily) is to fill in the field called HOMEPAGE in your profile. +Draegon
No Stunod (love the name), I have noticed as well, that some cachers will provide direct links to their favorite caches through their profile description. +Team Lawrence
You just have to include the HTML you want use in your profile text. Your profile text is passed directly to the browser, so any HTML code you want can be input there. If you knew HTML, you probably wouldn't be asking this question, so a basic primer is probably in order. The basic format for a HTML link is <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=57595">Cache name</a> [This message was edited by Team Lawrence on July 23, 2003 at 06:19 AM.] Quote Link to comment

Kanto
Well thanks for the tip, HTML does work in it, but not UBB (Why?). Though I did use UBB, and have tried HTML in other areas of this site (but didn't work), so I assumed it wouldn't work any where else on the site...and...I do know some HTML, and your example is missing a ( " ) at the end of it. Thanks Team Lawrence! ______________________________________________ Kanto Quote Link to comment

Not all forums support it. This forum does not support all UBB code. For example you can't change the color of text in here. Why does the profile use HTML? Your profile page is linked here in the forums. However it is not part of the forums. It is a regular framed web page. So have fun with HTML. Pepper playing nice! Mokita! Quote Link to comment
Kanto
Thanks leatherman, Now I noticed also that some Cache pages have pictures and other things, I would assume by what you guys have said that would be HTML.(?) ______________________________________________ Kanto Quote Link to comment
+Brainerd
Yup. Pictures in profiles are also done with HTML. The images are usually stored on the person's own web site, or at their ISP. The following HTML would result in the image below it. <img src="http://www.tomschmid.com/geocaching/images/greatstories.jpg" width=400 height=210 border=0> Image is for the cache Great Stories of Science Fiction Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves. Your other questions have been correctly answered. The other logical question (which seems to be frequently asked) is how to change the background, which is also done with the proper HTML tag.
