Newbie question: When you sign..

what do you sign? Your real name or your forum name?

I sign using my caching name which is CoronaKid. From what I've seen most people do the same. That way if you log the find in the computer, the cache placer can verify by matching up your name in the logbook.

 

Otherwise, the cache placer would have no way of knowing which logs are legit. Right?

I sign my screen name, then under that, I put my first name. No particular reason why, that's just how I've been doing it.

I sign with my screen name, and then my personal name underneath (and anybody else who is caching with me that day).

For regular caches or those with good sized log books, I sign our screen name just below the date of our find. After any meaningless prose I write I sign my first name and the first names of those in my party. I also do the same on-line.

 

For micros or where the logbook is getting full, I will simply sign my screen name next to the date of the find.

I usually sign my nickname (kinda makes the first name obvious) and my e-mail address.

I use my caching name most(if not all)of the time.

If some other cacher contacts me,like sends me e-mail, then I use my real name.

Not sure why I do it this way. Never really thought about it 'til just now.

Just in case the wrong person, or agency, gets the logbook. I don't need someone upset with the cache tracking me down.

 

Now, how many people PLACING caches add their name, phone number, and/or E-mail address in case the cache needs to be removed?

I just got a rubber stamp. User name, my real name and web site. Then I can add stuff like date trades and guests.

Also a rubber stamp with cachename. I actually prefer people use their cache name. They are much more distinctive and easier to remember than Joe or Bob Somethingorother. When I get E-Mails on the local board people usually use their real names, which leaves me wondering ''now who the heck is that?''

We use stamps - The "Cache Cat" for the team and then a paw print for each team member. Over each paw print we put our real first names.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but around here it's almost exclusively geo-names only.

I pretty much use my geoname. Of course, my team name is derived from a combination of my real name and a combined teamname with a good friend of mine.
