+Team GPSaxophone
chaos and havoc were not the main subject of fight club. underground organization. similar. We aren't exactly underground. We have many contacts with state and local governments so we can educate them on what we do and why it is good to have us around (CITO, more visitors to parks, etc) The "Fight Club" was about power and using that power to do destructive things. I don't see how Geocaching is similar to "Fight Club" Quote Link to comment

Good, profound advice. I bow before your greatness. What is this topic about? I have no idea if it is on-topic or off-topic. I would be grateful if the saxophones and wet cats could do the Seinfeld thing on this and turn it into a topic about something else. I will go now. +flask
re: the picture well, they do look kind of nerdy. if you're reading this, you probably do, too. but i think the real point would be WHAT ON EARTH WOULD BE THE PROBLEM WITH THAT?!? seeing a whole buncha people all together for the purpose of common enjoyment of a wholesome entertainment warms my heart so much i might have to go rub it with some dry ice. incidentally, yesterday afternoon i posted my nerd manifesto on my door at work. it starts off with the words: "if you know me, you might have noticed that i'm kind of geeky. actually, that's not quite true; i'm COMPLETELY geeky. i'm a nerd." it goes on to say that if you're also a nerd, you are welcome here. and if you're not a nerd, you're still welcome. nothing intended to harm or humiliate another person is acceptable here. i have some other things to say about it, but you get the idea. since i work in a middle school, this has been met with four basic reactions: grownups who get teary-eyed, nerdy kids who secretly read it over and over, popular kids who are nice and read it right out loud congratulating me for having posted it, and socially insecure popular kids who hate it. my popularity has doubled overnight. anyway, noticing a geeky trend in the appearance of a group of people is not necessarily a criticism. the idea of being nerdy does not fill me with self-loathing. and let's not forget that fight club is not just about power and control. it's also about serious menatl illness. and don't get me started on that topic, either, because i will whip out my license to make statements about that so fast it will make your head spin. SBPhishy
My friend and I are actualy slowly turning geocaching into the next fight club, in our area. At certain predetermined times, people go to certain coords. Then, another group goes and tries to find them. When a "cache victim" is found, the finder attempts to beat the snot out of them. Whoever loses the fight, has to be the next "cache victim" and the winner gets to be the next find. It's a lot of fun, though we have all been going thru a number of GPS's as they are often smashed during the rumbles. Quote Link to comment
