flask
don't name names, but i'd like to know loosely what's the percentage of cachers who have over 1000 finds? 500? 250? under 50? i don't care who stacks up where, but i'm mildly curious about the breakdown. Quote Link to comment
wildearth2001
I fall under the under 50 group. Hey Jeremy, that would be a good stat for the Hide and Seek Page, average # of finds for active users. Quote Link to comment
The Leprechauns
My general sense is that there's still fewer than 100 geocachers with more than 1,000 finds, and probably hundreds between 500 and 1,000. The vast majority of geocachers, I'm guessing 90%, have less than 100 finds. This would include all the people who tried geocaching, found a dozen or so caches, and dropped out for whatever reason. +Geo Ho
How does one "find" an event cache? There's a thread in here somewhere about that but I don't want to dig it up. . . it's too much like work, but the consensus was that since you have to find the event via coordinates with your GPS then it counts as a find. +radioscout
How does one "find" an event cache? This multi cache was an event cache. It took about 3 hours to find and after the teams returned there was enough time to talk and barbq. The first European cacher with 1000 finds was Grokky Grokson from Belgium http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.asp...on&submit4=Find and the next one seems to be Blinky Bill http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.asp...ll&submit4=Find Quote Link to comment

Fritz_Monroe
I'd lean towards just over 100 having over 1000. A guess based on 3 people fairly local that are over 1000. F_M Quote Link to comment
Naefearjustbeer
How does one "find" an event cache? To find Scotlands first event cache you had too find one of 4 physical caches in the surrounding area which had stickers with the location of the event, once you found at least one of the caches you then followed the co-ordinates to a pub carpark in the nearby town. the co-ordinates on the cache event page did not relate to the actual loction of the pub If I remember correctly it was a few miles away. I had to drive for 5 hours to get to the first cache and then I found 3 out of the 4 before going to the pub for a well deserved beer! Quote Link to comment
Planet
How does one "find" an event cache? Sometimes, like at the event we had this weekend in the 18° weather, with between 50 and 70 cachers showing up (who could count) there are temporary caches set up that don't get a page, so the event is a find. Contributing to and meeting other cachers is worth a few points so that's a find. Drving from 6 different states like they did this weekend sure should count as a find. So that's it in my mind. Swagger
I should hit 200 this weekend. I haven't been caching much since the weather cooled down and I started 4-wheeling but now that things are warming up, I'll be getting out to more caches (when I'm not Jeepin' ). Quote Link to comment
