Captain Chaoss Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 In our area, there are a lot of cachers with a signature item they leave. I'm currently trying to come up with one of my own, but was just wondering what others found interesting, worth collecting, or annoying. Two roads diverged in the woods and I, I took the one less traveled, and that is how I found the cache. Quote
Northern-Lights Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 Signature item collecting is a big thing here in Michigan. We wanted a "coin" but found the cost to be more than we wanted to do right now. We thought about a custom wooden nickle or wooden dollar...... do a search for wooden nickle and youd be amazed at what you can do. Then we stopped at a shop that does trophies and plaques.... the also do custom medals.... we are getting one made up with our own design and some engraving. They look wonderful and won't be as expensive as a coin, but will look almost as good. There is also a discussion and some ideas on a thread about signature items at www.mi-geocaching.org going on right now. Earth First!!! We'll cache the other planets later!! Quote
+DustyJacket Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 I had "HoneyChile" make me a bunch of buttons. See my avatar - it is the button design with the words removed. DustyJacket Not all those that wander are lost. But in my case... Quote
+SylvrStorm Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 I've recently started leaving bits of hand made, European-style 4-in-1 chainmail as a signature item. Doesn't cost a lot, but it takes some time and effort to make the links and assemble them into chainmail. *** Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry, and they laugh at you. *** Quote

+T-storm Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 The Geoferret Clan has used a cloisonne lapel pin in the shape of a ferret as our signature item since the very first cache we found. This one is like the pins we place in caches we hide for the first 3 finders to take if they wish. The ones we leave in caches we find have all white enamel rather than the browns, black, or gray colors. They've become a bit of a "collector's item" among local cachers, which has been very fun for us! T-storm http://www.cordianet.com/geocaching Quote
GrandpaCannon Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 My avatar is an example of my signature patch. My wife makes them up for me on her Bernina embroidery sewing machine. That way she uses her hobby to help me with my hobby. Quote
OuttaHand Posted April 27, 2003 Posted April 27, 2003 Someone above mentioned wooden nickels. I bought a pack of blank wooden nickels, a rubber stamp that looks like a compass rose, and a custom-ordered stamp with the name of our team. Stamped the compass rose on one side of a wooden nickel, and our custom stamp on the other. Makes a neat personalized item. If the finder doesn't want our info to show in his/her display, they can turn it so the compass rose shows. PS--ordered the custom rubber stamp from cistamps.com Quote
